Horn has got to be #1 after losses to Elon and Tennessee State. A close loss to the other USC followed.

All we can hope for is that the rumors of SC being a dream job for 3G aren't true. I think it's pretty obvious that WSU is the better program with better potential with the ability to actually win and play in March. And considering he has what he's called, 'the best recruiting class he's ever been a part of', I don't think we should be too worried if/when Horn gets the axe.

Some of the rumors I heard last year were that there was some friction between Marshall and SC's AD from their last search. And also from what I've heard, Marshall likes to have a lot of control over his program, perhaps more than SC's AD is willing to allow.

My feeling is that HCGM's perfect time to move up will be after the 2014 or 2015 season. 2013 is likely to be a down year, but when Early is a Sr., Cotton is a Jr. and Baker and VanVleet are Sophs, we'll be pretty good, as long we have at least one other solid post player (Watson, Uwadiae or ???).

Royal, I'm assuming that by "2013" you mean next season (what others would refer to as 2012-13), and it's true that next season's Shocker edition will be without a bunch of good seniors for the second straight year. But with Armstead and Baker (and forgotten man Mitchell) joining the backcourt, the rest of what Marshall calls the best recruiting class he's ever been associated with joining the mix, and Hall as an anchor in the middle (not to mention Orukpe as the still-improving flyswatter, along with Cotton, White, Wessel, et. al.,), there should still be some imposing talent onboard.

There's a reason why coaches like Brad Stevens, Mark Few, and Shaka Smart (or, in football, Chris Petersen at Boise) realize they have a pretty good thing going and stay where they are. They're getting rich as it is, they like their lives, and they like being Big Men on Campus who are in charge while not having to cope with the intense glare that beams down on bigger stages. Whether Marshall is like them or wants to chase the brass ring somewhere else, we'll just have to see. But for a coach who establishes himself, which Marshall certainly is at least in the process of doing if he hasn't done it already, what is now WSU basketball would not be an easy situation to leave, especially for a place where many have tried but not been able to sustain success.

                Yes, by 2013 I do mean 2012-13.

I don't think we're going to be bad by any stretch. Having Armstead and Mitchell will ease the transition but teams are going to be able to focus on Hall inside. Orupke and White aren't going to be able to take up the scoring slack unless one or both make huge strides before then. I predict we fall to around 4th in the MVC. If the MVC is down, maybe 3rd. If a lot of "what ifs" fall into place (like Drake a few years back) I could see 2nd behind CU.

Early will take care of it.

Maybe that chopped liver Teddy Hawkins could help.

I've learned not to rely on freshmen to shoulder a scoring load. Unless Early comes in and averages 20ppg, I'm concerned about getting consistent production from the post. Now, if EO and White can make teams pay for double-teaming Hall, then I'll be proven wrong and be happy as a clam!

I agree regarding a freshman. The point I was making was that there are more bodies than EO and White to help that cause. Add to Early and Hawkins, Anacreon. Hopefully, sometime before the season is over, we will know more about how much help he can provide for next year. I still believe that White will make positive strides this year. I'm hoping to see him play more with Hall on the floor.

I too believe that White will make strides and contribute this season. And after an offseason of more weights, he'll be ready to go next year and give us 15-20 minutes.
