The BE as it currently is, or will be, is still better than CUSA as far as basketball goes. Temple, Memphis, Cincinnati and UConn are better than any four CUSA can throw at them. Tulsa also wants to be in a conference with Houston and SMU as they have strong Texas ties and having Tulane probably doesn't hurt. All relatively close, as is Memphis.
You're correct in that it is basically CUSA from a few years ago with a few exceptions. It's not the BE we've known from the past decade or two, but it's still one that can get multiple bids. Not 9, but three to five potentially. CUSA will be a one, maybe two bid league. I do think that Tulsa would fit in with the MWC, but I don't think that they like the idea of Colorado State and AFA being the closest to them.
IF the MWC went to 14 or 16 and added some Texas schools, Tulsa MIGHT consider going west. But I think Houston is the big deal. Whoever has Houston, probably gets Tulsa.
