I would prefer the unfavorable geography of the AAC or the Big East over the time zone of the west coast. Less exposure.
Agreed, with a potential AAC west like below, it would be phenomenal from a fans perspective. By my count, that is 7 schools that have been to a final four.

    Wichita
    Houston
    Tulsa
    SMU
    Tulane
    Memphis
    *Air Force

    Cinci
    UConn
    ECU
    Temple
    UCF
    USF
    *Navy

Sorta like we did in English class when that paper had to be a minimum of 800 words.

            • The Leader article had to sting in Sprangfield.

Also, I imagine Bearzz77 and GLM are all puffed up.

                Those two are funny!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

                  • Mark Turgeon was in Wichita yesterday for a wedding at WSU. Thought that was interesting for what its worth. Wonder what he thought of the campus and if he happened to meet up with HCGM.

I have to agree that there was nothing really new. But I did find a couple of comments interesting:

Lost in much of the talk generated by the December announcement by Bardo is that he started by saying that remaining in the MVC may be the best option. If so, he said, he wants WSU to help the conference improve.
In December, Bardo talked mostly about playing football at the highest level, the Football Bowl Subdivision. However, the past few months may open his mind to the Football Championship Subdivision, where it would find a ready and powerful home in the MVC.
Not sure if those were hints of what might be coming or just trying reel in expectations a bit in case the status quo remains (or they could be totally irrelevant).

                          • Suellentrop has always been pretty clear that he's never heard anything substantial about changing conferences and hasn't been one to dream about changing conferences because I don't think he thinks changing conferences has ever been a real possibility. That was a mouthful. I'm leaning towards thinking the news at the end of May isn't going to be very good.

I think Bardo wants football and when the consultants tell him the only chance of changing conferences is to throw a bunch of resources at starting a football program, it's going to generate a lot of talk in the city. I don't think the support is going to be there to start football. That's something you would want 80% of the public to support and I don't think it's anywhere near that. I wouldn't be upset if Bardo said screw the public and took the big donors and started a program anyways.

                            • If FCS happened to be the route I would like to see the following be a league for all sports.

                              WSU
                              MSU
                              ISUr
                              ISUb
                              UNI
                              SIU
                              SDSU
                              NDSU

Maybe it will be like that "major announcement" the MVC was set to make a few years back. Come to find out, the major announcement was the MVC is keeping the tournament in St. Louis...
