The "furor" is that the US intelligence community has unanimously agreed that Russia was involved in attempts to influence the 2016 election. There continues to be more and more evidence to support this belief. There continue to be more and more arrests made in connection with this attack.

Despite this, Trump continues to say he believes Putin and says there is no reason to believe Russia was involved.

Do you truly not understand why that might worry people? If 100% of national security experts agreed that Iran had attacked us, but Obama was just taking pictures shaking hands with Ahmadinejad, saying stuff like "President Ahmadinejad was really firm in his denial today... I don't see why it would've been Iran." But literally every other branch of government was left saying "I mean.... it was Iran who attacked us." You wouldn't feel a little bit like losing your mind if I came on this forum and said "I guess I don't get what all the furor is about?"

JD got his quote from CNN.

If I had a nickel every time a Libby came screaming at me with a headline that was completely fabricated or highly modified for the specific reason to deceive, I would have a lot of nickels.

Everybody on earth has ADD now so the media does its reporting via headlines. You can literally read a headline and then the article and they are almost totally unrelated.

              For example:

"RUSSIAN AGENT TRUMP WANTS SCHOOLCHILDREN TO DIE"

Today President Trump met with local lawmakers to discuss the controversial topic of arming teachers. Several districts in Florida are seeking the counsel of law enforcement on how to address the burgeoning movement encouraging more (not less) guns into our schools... ... ...

^^^ This is how they do it.

            Yes.

            He said:

My people came to me, Dan Coates, came to me and some others they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin. He just said it's not Russia. I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be.

Lol, I'm with you. In his defense in the first one I originally had quotation marks around "no reason to believe" because I misremembered the quote.

Turns out I was wrong. It's not because I was technically wrong about the exact wording of the quote. It's because Pin doesn't think Trump is taking Putin's side.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today."

Actually no, I don't understand what the pacifistic Snowflakes are all up in arms about (actually I do). They dream of a socialistic/communistic America and they hate the military. It would seem that Trump overlooking a little internet skirmish between the two countries is exactly what a Birkenstock wearing, basement dwelling SJW would support.

The truth is, any help Trump got from the Russian propaganda machine was due to the fact that Putin absolutely hates Hillary. Putin knew that with Trump, Russia might have a chance at forging a new relationship - whether that's good or not is up you.

P.S. Everybody with an IQ above 85 should know why Trump cools on the discussion of Russian meddling. It speaks directly to the legitimacy of his presidency of which there is no doubt.

Even if that were true, it's about what he's doing compared with his normal behavior. Calling Kim Jung Un "Rocket Man" over and over again and talking about his hardline stance with all of our NATO allies. Then, with Russia, it's "I dunno... I believe the big guy." It's not that we're out here asking to punch in the nuclear codes. It's that we're shouting that the smoke detector is blaring.

I agree 10,000%! He is so concerned that everyone believes he is legitimate and belongs that he couldn't possibly budge on this topic. The only issue I have is that your post should read "He thinks it speaks directly..." He could, without a doubt, say that Russia meddled in the election and Democrats have run with it for political purposes to try to discredit his victory, or whatever.

I think they tried to meddle. Even the snowflakes no longer believe that there was collusion, which was what it was supposed to be about.

                  • Oh OK, I get it now, the corruption that was revealed in the e-mail dumps was written by russians? Hillary should have won? Sounds good.

They knew they were being hacked. One almost has to wonder, as skeptical as it sounds, was it a policy decision, as in "insurance policy?" Nahh...

There’s a big difference between Russia trying to meddle in an election, and an attack on US citizens. That’s a major conflation. Also, the Russian attempt was extremely weak, and the only reason they had any success was because Hillary wasn’t protecting National secrets.

Obviously Hillary’s failure doesn’t excuse the Russians, but what they actually accomplished is ridiculously small potatoes.

If the concern was real, that Russia could truly influence an election, then the solution is to go after independent e-mail servers, institute finance reform, and regulate campaign rallies/campaign adds against this activity. Instead, it’s how can we impeach Trump.

No excuse for the russians behavior, or Trumps serious indiscretion concerning intelligence, but the fact that the outgoing administration did not feel it prudent to "completely" brief the incoming administration concerning meddling, in good faith at the least, is on the far side of deceit. No? Why not? M. Flynn precluded this Intel being released? Really?

The US intelligence community unanimously agreed Saddam was still developing weapons of mass destruction.

Being that said - why would you not think Russia is trying to influence our elections? It been that way my whole life.

What? How? It's an attack on our democracy. It's an attack on our livelihood. Maybe there were no lives lost, but it was a cyber-attack, without a doubt. I would say any national security expert, government official (minus Trump), etc. would classify it as an attack. Do you have any that are saying it's not an "attack?"

Unresponsive. This is not the topic at hand. Trump is literally saying that he doesn't see any reason to believe it was Russia period.

Obviously, I may disagree with whether or not it was "small potatoes" but the smaller the "potatoes" the more Trump should be willing to admit what happened.

This is all also unresponsive. We're just asking Trump to not spend 24 hours a day trying to discredit the investigation into what happened. That's the first thing that we should be trying to do. We can find out what they did and if Trump had anything to do with it.
