The hack that resulted in the loss of these records began in May 2014, according to OPM Director Katherine Archuleta's testimony before Congress. It was not discovered until May 2015.
MuuhAHAHAH muhahahAHAHAHAHA MUHAHAHAhahahahaaha
While I enjoy poking fun at you, in seriousness, we do both agree that Obama's leadership skills should not seriously be in question for being hacked. But neither should Trump's leadership skills be in question over being hacked.
The current hardware and de facto standard network protocols of the global infrastructure make solving this problem nearly impossible. The problems can be mitigated and substantially reduced -- with extreme diligence and expense -- but not eliminated.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

The timing of the breach couldn't have been any better. Shocka really put the screws to Trump over a security beach at his company that Trump himself couldn't have prevented. He pointed out that a security breach made the Donald unqualified to be president. Shock went all out! Shocka pointed out that this is his area of expertise.
Then BOOM! (Kaboom to all you Northern Iowa fans)
Rlh04d would be in this fight, defending Obama, calling my little joke partisan, but he finds himself with bigger things to worry about. As one of the 21 million people that have had background checks performed, he has had his personal information hacked. He's busy calling his credit card companies, making sure his bank accounts are balanced and trying to call and subscribe to Lifelock. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

You can always go the route of "If Bush hadn't angered the hackers, they wouldn't have hacked. They are truly good, deep down. They just should have been negotiated with."

Since we're picking over leftovers and this also seems to be lost in the translation, the Inspector General for OPM (i.e. the auditor) tried to get those servers closed down, he referred to them as a 'Chinese hackers dream' prior to the intrusion. That means that someone was aware and trying to do their job, but they got shut down by the higher ups in OPM. Trump and his company were totally unaware they even had a problem.
Ignorance (Trump/Trump's CIO) vs. Incompetence (Obama/OPM/Archuletta).

Things haven't been the same for him ever since.
The moral of the story is don't tempt fate with your words and actions. Kinda' like the guy in Orange, Texas who wanted to go for a swim was warned there was a big alligator hanging out at the marina where he was drinking. His last words were "F@#& the alligators!"

From the article: Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat and a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, applauded Archuleta’s move.
“This is the right move for the agency and all those affected by the breach,” he said in a statement. “The focus now needs to be on fixing the problem and protecting those impacted.”
Looks like the Virginia Democrat want to hold nobody responsible. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Since Ma Bush is known to be explosive, I want to blame her, but only if she goes off like a Saturn rocket and the whole thing's taped and uploaded to You Tube.

Resigning keeps your retirement benefits intact and could also allow her to collect any bonuses due, as well as comp time, ungranted vacation and so forth. Facing a firing squad means losing all of that.
It also makes for good press and allows the people in OPM to focus more on their daily work and less on a media-driven circus.
Me, I'd rather resign, draw my retirement and go somewhere to count my money. Heck, I'd quit right now if the price was right.

As has already been demonstrated, ignorance in this situation is explanatory and not at all unusual. Incompetence is a whole 'nother matter.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

Sometimes, using the Saul Alinsky playbook bites you, but one of the rules in the playbook is to keep going. Shocka does that without fail. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.
