If the media finds that skeleton after the Republican nomination, the Democratic candidate wins.

Vetting candidates is the reason the GOP has lost the last two Presidential elections?

I don't want "another dem in office" anymore than I want a GOP candidate in the office. I'm this weird kind of person that weighs the positives and negatives of candidates individually without playing party cheerleader. I've been a registered independent my entire adult life. Considering I do not anticipate wanting to vote for Mrs. Clinton, I would like the Republicans to field the best candidate possible. Preferably one that can find Iran on the map with three guesses.
Its not vetting, its attacking plain and simple. Romney had more in his closet than anybody else that wasn't revealed. Thats why he didn't press about Benghazi during the debate. Dems knew it. Thats why he ended up as GOP candidate. They were careful to make sure he was. Its all a big game.

You are too honest. Politics is much nastier than you think. Much much nastier.

This is the greatest political show of the century. GOP is bringing it. People should enjoy the show. I am. This is amazing.

I don't agree that dems fear Trump. Only 20% of all voters (at most)will support him and most moderates/conservatives (let alone liberals) laugh at him. He's a losing candidate. They are enjoying his gaffes more than most. Conservatives that know him say that he doesn't believe most of things he that come out of his mouth. As late as 2008 ( and before), he supported Hilary, was an abortion supporter (just says he changes his mind when it helps him. In 2020, he will probably be a democrat again. i don't think he's a true "conservative". Just a rich guy (which is fine) who is a narcissist and who is out to have a great time and has the money to pay for it himself.

Did you mean to quote me here? I don't understand how this relates to what I said.

          • Trump is going to Laredo today at the invitation of the border patrol. Only problem is that he's not really welcome there (80%+ of the residents of Laredo are of Mexican descent). Just for the record, there are 232,000 people in Laredo in 2010, which accounts for roughly 90% of the population of Webb County, which is the county where Laredo is located. It's sister city across the border (Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas) has 373,000 residents. Laredo is 95.6% Hispanic. The ex-mayor told the media that he's not welcome and further stated that many of the residents of Laredo are offended and insulted by his remarks regarding Mexicans.

I think if he had went to the border in Arizona (in, say, Pima County) it would have been a much better result, as Nogales is a much smaller town.

This has the potential to be very volatile. I think I'll fix a batch of popcorn and watch..........

Sorry. I replied with the wrong quote. The small print of my mobile plus late at night is not a good combo for me. LOL Have a nice day.

It's what the GOP has done the last 8 years and it has worked out beautifully.

Hillary gets the Whitehouse. Bill gets a "Penthouse". You know what I mean.. :-)
I joked about this, but I honestly think I know what Trump is doing.

He's going to use the threat of a third party candidacy to extort either the Republican or Democratic parties for business concessions. Ultimately Trump can play Kingmaker here. If he runs as an independent, the Republicans lose. Either he get the Democrats to "pay" him (in political concessions, nothing as crass as straight bribes) to run, or the Republicans to not run.

This would make financial sense and egotistical sense, which are the two variables that explain all of Trump's actions.

Ultimately he doesn't care about either side. But he has the ability to sell the Presidency in some ways, IMO.

Hahaha and you called me a conspiracy theorist. Are you really swellafelon, too?

I actually have a degree in Political Science, have written many many papers and discussed for hours the political process behind the scenes, and while I am more conservative than most, I can assure you that this is not an opinion and I am more than qualified to offer that accurate bit of information. In fact, I had a feeling that Trump was putting up a show at first, but it has since been confirmed by professional ties in the GOP.
But come on, I don't expect you to believe any of that because it would mean you were wrong. lol.

It's not the majority of the dems that fear trump, because the majority just get their info from the likes of MSNBC, who spends most of their time "discussing" what trump says on a daily basis. Seriously, watch NBC and time how long it takes for them to talk about Trump. It's not very long.
No, it's the leaders of the Democratic Party that fear trump. They work tirelessly to blackball every GOP candidate in the limelight that has a shot at the nomination except those that they want to run against. Case in point, Romney had Obama on the ropes about Benghazi during the last debate. The reason he didn't press it (which would have won him the debate and almost certainly the presidency) was because Obamas camp had some very personal, nasty information that would have been extremely embarrassing if it made it to NBC.
The dems fear trump because any "dirt" on trump is old news. He can say whatever the hell he wants and get away with it because he doesn't fear democratic retaliation. Also, his sound bites force the news to talk about him, which keeps them from black balling (or vetting) a good presidential candidate with personal attacks. It would be easy for the dem leaders to tell NBC to ignore trump and talk trash on someone else, but trump would just talk louder and other stations would carry the stories and NBC would lose viewership.
It's a no lose situation right now. The GOP is positioning themselves perfectly for placing a candidate of their choosing in the race instead of who has been forced into that position. If trump runs away with the race (he won't), fine. He would be good in office. When he starts to stall and stagger down the stretch, it won't be bush there to look like a savior.

PS- look for bobby jindal to make a leap in the ratings after this week. He has a chance to use this tragedy to stand on and address this growing issue in the U.S.

                        • Things didn't go so well in Laredo for Trump yesterday. He didn't get the 'endorsement' of the Border Patrol Union he was claiming he had.
He made a brief appearance, held a brief press conference and left.
I'm thinking the reason the press conference was brief is that he was told by city officials that he wasn't welcome there.

I don't see what tragedy you were referring to in your post. Perhaps this one? Actually, it's not a tragedy, but someone did call it an insult:
