Because in this particular case, there really aren't any good guys, and for the most part, only bad guys. It basically boils down to which is the lesser of two evils. So for this very reason, if I bore you with a little history lesson from the past, I apologize. Stick with this to the very end, you might even get a kick out of it.

As a brand new LTC, I was attending the 9 month Command & General Staff College at Fort Levenworth and was sitting in their large auditorium listening to a most fascinating lecture by the most senior officer in the United States Army at the time. He was emphasizing to all of us about how important it was for all officers to issue clear and easily understood orders to their soldiers. And he gave the following example concerning the following TOP SECRET order issued to the Sixth Fleet Commander of the Lebanon invading force which went as best as I can remember it as follows:

FROM: CINCUSNAVALFORCES Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean

    TO: CINCSIXTHFLEET.

    SUBJECT: Lebanon

Immediately proceed to designated landing area offshore Lebanon.

Upon arrival, disembark ground forces and commence military actions as you deem necessary against enemy forces.

    Acknowledge receipt.

    CINCUSNAVALFORCES Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean

    FROM: CINCSIXTHFLEET

TO: CINCUSNAVALFORCES, Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean

    Your msg received and understood.

Just one question, Whose side are we on?

    CINCSIXTHFLEET

Note: I have never been able to verify this one way or the other and reached the decision long ago that it really doesn't matter if it actually happened or not. It is a great story and it certainly very clearly emphasizes the need for clarity.

Was a background check ever done on Obama - No, didn't think so.

Rather difficult when all his records are sealed!

Interesting reports are coming out that US will launch attacks against Syria in the coming week.

The Obama administration is saying "Senior Administration Official: ‘Very Little Doubt’ Assad Regime Behind Alleged Chemical Attack"

It is probably true some type non-persistent chemical agent was used, but there seems to be doubt of who used them. Because it seems foolish for the Assad regime to just use them so indecisive manner and it seems to help the Al Queda contingent more.

And the vocal anti-war lobby is and has continue to be ....[crickets] under the Obama administration.

Whichever side wins will still hate our guts and will continue to support Islamic terrorism.

Better yet, why don't we continue to sit this one out and let them them kill and decimate each other?
That's my take on the entire Middle East. I just don't care. Just leave and let them deal with their own problems. Our only reason to ever concern ourselves with that region was oil, and that isn't too necessary anymore.

Let Europe deal with them. We're a hell of a long ways away, and we're not going to be a target for terrorists if we aren't there. We have our own problems. I'm tired of policing the world.

Isn't this the second time chemical weapons have been used in Syria? If so, and nothing happened the first time, why wouldn't Assad use them again?

Some thoughts on Syria. Congress doesn't think much of Syria intervention. Small sample in the piece, but it's coming from both sides.

Talk about a no win situation.

All we have to do is open our eyes. Virtually everywhere we look in the ME, fighting is going on - Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, and lets not forget Israel and their various terrorist opponents. And, Iran is in the background there flaming and financially supporting and stroking most ot fhese fires.

This is nothing new. This entire area has been a power keg for decades and there is really not much keeping the entire region from IMPLODING.

Since Syria is not in the U.S. national interest, let the Muslins continue to duke it out while we comfortably sit this one out.

An American military attack on Syria could begin as early as Thursday and will involve three days of missile strikes, according to "senior U.S. officials" talking to NBC News. The Washington Post has the bombing at "no more than two days," though long-range bombers could "possibly" join the missiles. "Factors weighing into the timing of any action include a desire to get it done before the president leaves for Russia next week," reports CNN, citing a "senior administration official."
The New York Times, quoting a Pentagon official, adds that "the initial target list has fewer than 50 sites, including air bases where Syria's Russian-made attack helicopters are deployed." The Times adds that "like several other military officials contacted for this report, the official agreed to discuss planning options only on condition of anonymity."
Has anybody heard of "operational security"?

Oops, how could I leave out Pakistan?

You are absolutely right concerning the ongoing Islamic initiated wars going on in all the areas you mentioned. I was attempting to limit it to the generally accepted ME areas since we are discussing Syria and not SE Asia and Africa.

India is generally accepted as being in SE Asia even though it is right next door to Pakistan. Likewise, some of the others kind of fall into the gray areas of ME versus Africa and several could certainly be argued either way.
