I have to admit, I heard the talk of NATO membership, but don't recall seeing anything about EU membership.

Putin is threatening nuclear war to rattle the West. Russia has probably always had missiles aimed at London...the only difference now is that some of them maybe hypersonic tactical nukes. A more likely NATO target is Warsaw because at this point they seem to be far the most likely European/ NATO military to go all out to build a bigger Army and air force, and the most likely to support the Ukraine with arms. In a sense, a Warsaw missile strike would also be directed at German political opinion because the Germans and the Scholz government seem to back down somewhat every time Putin does his nuclear saber rattling. Germany is by far the most critical European country to have on board in an eventual Russian-NATO war.

It's obvious he was all in from the start. The US intelligence apparatus (up to the commander), running hog wild all over Ukraine, has accused Russia of fixing a Presidential election for 5+ years to the American public.

It seems diplomacy is the last resort, if then.

Bottom line, anyone besides Biden could have stopped this before it started. Jimmy Carter probably has the international diplomacy abilities to have stopped this. From early on, the stupid executive orders hamstringing American energy gave Putin strength. Doubling down and allowing Russia Nord Stream II exacerbated the war. And these are only his decision regarding energy- there are too many instances of Biden coming off weak to mention. And a bunch of jack ass Drmocrats running their mouths about Russian collusion didn't help either.

Conservatives love to say if Trump were in office, Putin wouldn't have invaded, which is true, but the bottom line is anyone in office besides Biden and the world wouldn't be in this mess. And London or Warsaw, take your pick, it doesn't matter.

Beginning to suspect that Germany and France and others in NATO are willing to sacrifice the whole Ukraine to buy time to militarily rebuild. Back in late June I listened to an interview on Deutsche TV...a foreign relations professor who taught at maybe Georgetown? stated that he thought Germany and France have been negotiating with Putin for a long time and have proposed a Kissinger like cease fire "in place" which would basically cede the Donbas, a land link to the Crimea, plus even Kherson oblast if the Russians can hold on there. I think Putin would take it if his offensive is stalled because he needs a credible victory. At this point he probably also needs to rebuild his Army. Putin's plan would be to hit the Ukraine again in a few years. In that time I seriously doubt if the Ukraine will be admitted to NATO so it will still be highly vulnerable.
