  • BCS Bowl Predictions

Alright, post your predictions for the major bowl berths. Most teams have one game left to play, and some have finished up, just waiting for an unfortunate soul to lose ahead of them.

    Here's what I'm looking at:

BCS Championship: W. Virginia vs. Ohio St.
    Sugar Bowl: Tennessee vs. Hawaii
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Georgia
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Arizona St.
    Rose Bowl: USC vs. Kansas

For this to happen: OU wins the Big 12, Tennessee wins the SEC, USC wins the Pac10, Ohio St. wins the Big 10, W. Virginia wins the BE, VT wins the ACC. KU would receive an at-large over Mizzou. Georgia, Hawaii, and Arizona St. would get the last at-large picks.

    Thoughts?

KU and Mizzou both deserve at larges over most of those teams but i dont think they will give the Big 12 3 BCS teams.

That's exactly why I picked KU to get the bid over Mizzou, even after this past week's game. I just can't imagine a 1-loss KU being left out, no matter who wins the Big 12.

USC -17 and it wouldn't be enough.

They are making the assumptions that.... 1) Missouri loses to OU and 2) Ohio State becomes #2 and plays in the championship game. In this scenerio, an at-large birth would play the Pac-10 in the rose bowl (which could be KU or Missouri)

EDIT: No other Big Ten team is ranked in the top 14 or 18- I can't remember (rule was recently changed or to be changed) to be eligible for the BCS

Texas played in it in 2005 against Michigan. Texas won 38-37. Great game.

Smooth kinda summed it up, but just in this century:

Nebraska in 2002, Oklahoma in 2003, Texas in 2005 and 2006.
                    Deuces Valley.
                    ... No really, deuces.

                      My bad then. 8)

I always considered the Rose bowl a west coast bowl.

Isn't there a rule for only 2 teams per conference making BCS bowls?

If so, if Mizzou loses to OU, how do you put KU above Mizzou for that one spot? KU is 0-1 against the Top 40. Mizzou will have two losses, but to only one team, and they beat KU head-to-head.

I am not a fan of either team, just looking at it from the outside. Thoughts?

I would be shocked if KU got a bid over Mizzou.

If Mizzou loses, then they fall out of the top 4 of the BCS. This would move KU into the top 4 and gaurantee them a BCS bowl. Mizzou would be left out due to the fact they play in a tougher than heck conference this year. OU gets the auto. KU gets the top 4 BCS at-large.

That system is BS. Mizzou just needs to beat OU and then both the Hawks and Tigers get in.

I was not familiar with the top 4 rule. Interesting. Well just chalk up one more f up for the NCAA. The list of things they can't get right is simply mind boggling.
