I wish I liked beer so I could give APB some business. Thank you for taking the time to address the situation.

I can't drink beer because it's not on my diet, but many of these brewpubs have excellent food. Who knows, you might go over there and find it's a great place to eat. If I were up there, I would definitely go there and eat, I just wouldn't drink any beer.

I've worked in the kitchen, but never in the front of the house. For those who have please correct me if I'm wrong on this. I've always thought that if you go somewhere for just drinks, customary tip is $1 per drink (unless at "mixology" type place which would warrant more). However if food is also ordered then tip in the 15-20% range. AeroPlaines is a brewery...no food. So a $5 tip could be in the range of what was ordered as craft beer tends to be a little more expensive than Busch Lite.

But, I do know the the owner is a career former Marine who learned the brewing trade as a part of a "life after MArines" scholarship. Don't punish him for this. Go in and look at the section of the bar where the bar maids can lower the bar to wheel chair height so anyone in a wheel chair, especially wounded veterans, can sit at the bar and have a beer like everyone else. He still gets my business.

And, by the way, if ANY of you complained about Kentucky fans trying to ruin John Higgins business (Yes, i know - this isn't a false claim), then FU for trying to do the same to the owner of this bar that probably had no hand in this comment.
Employees going to social media to complain about any customer is not a good look for any establishment. The owner should take steps to rectify the situation his employee created.

Again. It did not happen at Aero Plains. Their employee was with others (apparently) at a different establishment. The key is that this employee heads up out side sales, so he is the face of the business outside of Aero Plains itself. The owner has taken steps to rectify the situation as he has already stated on this thread.

If you don't report 6% of sales as tips things can get dicey for employees and especially employer with irs. At the bar, a buck a beer is usually pretty fair. At the table the server usually has to tip out the host, busboy and bartender at 5-8% of sales, so the potential exists to lose money on a table if you are stiffed or tipped poorly.

For Father's Day I just took my dad around to some of the Wichita micro-breweries here in town. Our second stop was Aero Plains Brewery. When ordering beer I asked to speak with the owner. I was introduced to Lance. I told him I was here because I heard about Aero Plains from the "Tip Tirade" that happened with one of his employees a couple of months back. He said, "oh yea, I remember that. Believe me that guy had some consequences from that." He then told me how much he loved Wichita. Loved Wichita State and then told me some of his back story. Then afterwards he gave a tour of his whole facility. Absolutely amazing! I am an Enterepreneurship grad from WSU. I love small business. This guy is doing things right. When I left I asked him, "Lance, what can I do to help you?" He responded, "just keep telling people to come see us." And that's why I write. This guy is a marine, an H1N1 survivor, and a Wichitan with the heart and character of a WSU shocker. If you like beer go visit and drink a pint. Have him tell you his whole story; it's incredible! Tell him your here because of Shockernet and because you support local entrepreneurs. He made a believer out of me. Oh, and their IPA rocks the house!
