Hey folks... I'm Lance Minor, CEO of Aero Plains Brewing.

I'd like to thank the people who brought this item to my attention.

Jake has been a valued member of our team, but he clearly displayed a lapse in judgement in his methods for speaking out for the service industry.

I have instructed him to delete the FB post, and we will address this incident appropriately.

I personally am a huge WSU fan---both my wife and daughter are alumni. Coach Marshall has been in Aero Plains, and I have shared beers with him. As an aspiring business leader, I personally look up to him and what he has done for each and every young person he has mentored and for the city he loves.

Our company is built on the concept of "genuine concern"--that means truly caring about the people, the products, and the community associated with our business, and though we are willing to stand up for just causes (like supporting our service industry workers) our company does not condone defaming anyone in the effort to do so.

I'll end by offering my sincere apology to Coach Marshall and the WSU community as a whole.

    Lance Minor
    CEO/Brewmaster

I'll never visit Aero Plains again, but that's because the beer is just not very good. Bigger fan of Hopping Gnome.

Anyway, guy is out of line calling anyone out for tip. I managed a restaurant/bar back in the day and our servers were never allowed to complain about tips. Sometimes, their service was terrible, and I let them know. Other times, people just didn't tip. Nothing you can do. Complaining only makes you look bad. In the end, they all made well more than I did. There are reasons people now make careers out of serving/bartending. I had a bartender we paid $5.50 an hour make $70,000 a year.

I need @WstateU: to step in with a R. Lee Ermey video clip in Full Metal Jacket.

That's the most outstanding answer I've ever heard.

I can tell you I've never been to Aero Plains. I'd never heard of it until today. But because of this response and how it was handled, I'm going there first chance I get. This is entrepreneurialism and integrity at its best. Which to me actually outweighs whether the beer is good or not. Cheers!!

I just read his response for the 4th or 5th time, and each time it just gets better. To be honest, I don't really drink beer, but I may start there.

Beer also makes you fat. It's full of carbs (a book I'm reading about bicycling referred to beer as 'liquid carbs'). Most people don't need many grams of carbs in a day to get by. I'm probably paying now for my previous love for beer, which I consumed a whole lot of up until I was about 50. My tastes don't track with today's hop-loving concoctions. Hops were originally put in beer as a preservative by the Brittish (India Pale Ale). I'm not trying to knock beer (in fact there are several Belgian varieties I would consider drinking one of even now), but like a lot of other carb-rich foods, just a little can go a long, long way.

Not only that, but also, if you work out a whole lot, the whole idea of carbo-loading is a myth (unless you are an Olympic-level marathoner or some other world-class athlete competing in something like an Iron Man or the Tour de France). Otherwise, they do you little good. Read and research on carbs and exercise physiology and you'll see.....

...and that's how you do it! Integrity at it's finest.

As a small business owner myself I have fortunately never had this type of issue come up. But if and when it does...I will defintely remember how you handled this and approach with the same transparency. Here-here Lance....you done well!

I sure as hell don't want to. My problem is that I'm not smart emough or lucky enough to figure out how to do it otherwise. Although I do buy a lottery ticket on occassion although I'm no9t sure qualifies as smart and so far it absolutely proves I am not lucky.

This behavior has either been more-or-less okay-ed by his employer, or the doosh is just talking himself out of a job in front of crowd. The guy is completely tone-deaf as to the connection between what's coming out of his mouth, and his employer's public image.

I'm not going to get into the specifics but Coach Marshall has a reputation from credible sources of being just the opposite: a genuinely gratuitous customer.
