I believe he knew what was going on and condoned it when it helped him as a Chicago politician. As soon as it became an issue in his presidential campaign he had to distance himself from the man.

I was listening to Lou Dobbs the other night and they were talking about this. One of the politcal analysts indicated that this is a no win situation for Obama. The reason is he can issue statements or make a speech telling his position on the comments. But the problem is that there will be a never ending call to clarify things, be more sincere, issue a stronger denouncement, etc. Heck, if you review the posts you will notice they echo those points. All the while it gets him off track of his message.

Fellow Americans, I was not aware of what my Secretary of State was doing without my approval.

        Sound halfway familiar???

Is this what you want to hear in the future.

I just think that the 3 viable candidates left for President of our country, is a very very sad state of affairs. (no pun intended).

I didn't watch the video (can't here at work), but read the accompanying story. And again, my concern is not political (I have no intention of voting for the man), but spiritual in nature.

He only got part-way there with me by saying there is more to his pastor than the controversial statements. Though I wish he'd gone into a little more detail since that statement was predictable.

I wasn't impressed with his handling of the "black anger" issue. He recognized it and identified the hurdles it creates to solving social issues, but didn't denounce it (unless I completely misunderstood something). And since his speech was addressing his pastor and church, I'm framing my interpretation that way, as well.

Fostering anger in church is not spiritually edifying. Anger can be ok if properly targeted ("In your anger, do not sin."), but a much better way to deal with it from the pulpit would be to encourage prayer and forgiveness. He could taken that approach, but for whatever reason didn't "go there".

I probably took that issue further than necessary, but the bottom line for me is that he's still falling a bit short, spiritually. Politically, I expect he's probably appeased those who support him or are considering it. As for his critics, once they make the allegation, nothing will satisfy them.

I just love libs. They always want this and want that, but when it comes time to pay for it, you can't find them with a search warrant.
The funny thing about libs is the sudden reversal they have after getting mugged. They become independents or republicans the very next day. It's an amazing transformation.

Change here, change there. By the time Obama gets through with you, the only thing you'll have left in your pocket is change.
If you have REALLY read Barack Hussein Obama's recipe, you'll actually know what he plans to do to your bank account. It basically reads like this- "Reach into your jeans, and pull out those greens."
He has made more promises to more groups for support (votes), of which somebody will have to pay for all.
Gee, I wonder who it will be?
You mean people who actually work and contribute to the system?
Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner.
And those who receive their jack via the mail, say the third of every month?
Why they'll get even more incentive to stay home and remain unproductive.
Don't you just love it when politicians reward bad behavior, just to get their vote!
God Bless America - and heaven help us if Barack Hussein Obama gets in. 8)

Two of my children are currently attending college and both are getting brain-washed by their liberal professors. I recently forwarded them this explanation of the difference between a Republican and a Democrat:

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many
others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and
was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
                thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes
on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The
self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the
truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she
                was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and
let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking
a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her
no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even
have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends
because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?"

She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy
classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so
popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to
all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes
                because she's too hung over."

Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's
office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your
friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and
certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired
back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades!
I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next
to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the
                Republican party."

Strange - while at WSU the faculty avoided those sorts of discussions (even in classes such as history). If fact the only 'controversial' discussion was the fair tax. Even that one is a 'dead in the water' issue.

Unfortunately, it assumes an even playing field on which all parties involved begin.

If there actually was an analogy between college grades and economics, certain students would receive a GPA bump for their parents and grandparents grades.

The reality is that there is a balance between personal responsibility and social factors that affect opportunity that must always be considered.

Liberals usually overemphasize the social factors and become deterministic. Conservatives usually overemphasize personal responsibility and blame the victim. Denying either reality leads to bad policy.

I agree. Either extreme really is bad. I just lean more one way than I do the other and feel certain things have been abused. I know there's abuse on both sides but personally think one is worse than the other.

I'm real excited for that whopping $600 "refund" check. That will definitely make up for $4 gas and the thousands I've lost over the past few months in stocks. Thanks Georgie. Now ride out of town trying to give people the impression that you were just looking out for the American people.

Until voters realize we need some recessions or "down times" in order to keep our economy viable for generations, nothing is going to change. It will only make the inevitable collapse come on stronger and faster.

The alternatives are either major tax increases (at which point we will be no different than the socialist nations) or a bailout from another country, effectively selling the U.S. to the highest bidder and completely undermining our sovereignty.

Heaven forbid someone (or some party) not get reelected because he/she did the right thing even though the populace was too stupid (or too selfish) to realize it.
