Standing at the plate as the pitchers began throwing in the bullpen were two dummies. No, not stupid hitters -- actual dummies. You know, like mannequins wearing blue jerseys, white pants and expressionless faces.
"One is Ted Williams and one is Mickey Mantle," said senior pitching advisor Bill Fischer. "They ain't got a hit yet and they've been standing there for hours."
The Royals then immediately signed both dummies to minor league deals. Angel Berroa's job with Omaha appears lost.

Who would you all like to see win the 4th and 5th starter roles? Fromt the sounds of it 1,2,3 are locked up with Meche, Bannister and Greinke. They are saying there are 7 guys vying for the 4th and 5th spots. Although I think if Tomko shows much he will get one of the spots. I would like to see Hochevar break camp if he is ready and be the number 5 guy. Luke Hudson should be another strong candidate if he can show he is healthy and can pitch like he did a couple years ago. Should be interesting to watch. I am just excited to be reading about them actually being in spring training, that means MLB is just around the corner. Spring always brings about new optimism.
THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!
Tomko, Nomo, or Maroth for the 4 and 5 spot coming out of spring training. I really would like Hudson or Hochevar to be in the starting lineup by mid season, cause the sense I get is that they need a little more seasoning before taking over the starting roles.
