"Bill Madden from the NY Daily News was on WEEI's baseball show Sunday morning and said something in passing that I found interesting.

The Royals who turned down the chance to move to the NL a decade ago have reconsidered things and have asked Bud about changing leagues. They cite being between St Louis and Denver as being a reason and would love being in the same division as the Cards.

Now Madden claims the Brewers would not mind coming back to the AL. The Brewers ownership has discovered that many fans miss the AL and that was brought home last April when the Indians drew very well on short notice when games were moved to Milwaukee. They have also found that Brewers fans resent Miller Park becoming Wrigley North when the Cubs play there.

On the surface it seems like a win win for everybody."

ASM, that is facinating. I would love to see the Royals in the NL Central for matchup purposes.

I would love this, then my two favorite teams (Royals/Indians) wouldn't be in the same division. Also I hate the Cardinals so that would be fun. Oddly though I like the DH, I don't really like watching pitchers hit and even though there is more strategy involved in the NL game, I still like the DH.

The Royals would have a better shot in the NL Central over the AL. I'll take whatever though as long as it's Royal Baseball!

I like the DH as well.

I would applaud the move primarily because of the rivalries associated with it. KC v STL and also KC vs Denver Even though the rockies arent in the central.

I wouldnt consider the royals as a rival with Chicago nor the other teams as well. However it would put the Royals in a league with teams very similar to their own organizational buildup.

Jose Guillen's 15-day steroids suspension will begin with the first day of the actual season (March 30), not the Royals' Opening Day (March 31), so he'll miss just 12 games.
As messed up as MLB can be about these things, we suppose we should just be pleased it doesn't start with the A's-Red Sox series in Japan. Guillen did file a grievance over the suspension, but nothing has come of that so far. The Royals will likely go with Joey Gathright and maybe Justin Huber in his place initially.

Im anxious to see what joey could do. He had a decent year last year. Hopefully he has learned how to actually steal bases.

Gullien's suspension is rough on the Royals because the early schedule is so brutal, and of course they don't want to get buried in the standings halfway through April. Olivio is out five games, too, for fighting last season - and he will count against the 25-man roster, so someone's going to be sent to Omaha and we'll be carrying three catchers the first week.

I think the Royals will be lucky to get out of the second week with four wins. Sadly, if the Royals ended that stretch 4-6 I think it would be an overwhelming success.

Ill be at the K on April 10th to see em take on the Yanks. I just bought my son his own personalized jersey and I also snatched one of the new powder blue alternates.

Look forward to Bud lights and gates in the stands!

No doubt some Gates you picked up on the way to the stadium ;-)

Those powder blues are going to look fantastic! I hope the weather cooperates for this series. You never know with these April games, and the Royals need the Yankee games to be sell-outs.

I always thought they were ugly, ugly, ugly. Still do.

I wonder if much of the affection for them is just because people associate the good 'ol Royals days with the powder blues.
