The way things are setting up, looks like another one of those tight isobar, hellish wind 48 hour things we've seen several times in the last couple of years. I'm not the precipitation will be all they are predicting, but I also think this setup has a lot of variables, and if things mix wrong we could see one heck of a dumping in isolated spots.

On the serious side. We could see T-storms, turning to freezing rain, then turning to heavy snow with 45 mph winds.

Another difficult storm to predict, models are all over the place.

4 - 8 inches for the Wichita area

Thursday is a perfect work from home day (only risk is losing power if a huge freezing event).

Probably the storm we had today out here. Rained all day with some heavy rain and hail this evening. Occasional big wind gusts too.

Looks like Wichita and some surrounding schools cancelling school for Thursday - https://www.ksn.com/weather/closings-delays/

Apparently round 1 of the storm is a driving thunder hail in 40-50 MPH winds.

I assume it's supposed to get worse? Because right now, this is pretty weak. Or does my hometown just get missed with the bad stuff?

It always depends on if you're east of the turnpike or not.

I did just get up to get some water and noticed that it's started snowing again, so there's hope yet for there to be more than two inches or so like last time.

Visibility in NE Wichita is maybe 1/8 a mile right now. If it’s not blizzard conditions, it’s as close as it can get. Miserable right now and snowing incredibly hard.

Yep. The roads weren't great but, for me, the lack of visibility was an even bigger issue. Visibility 1/8 of a mile at most and even that's a bit blurred. And everything is just white, white, white.

So far the driving conditions are worse than the last storm.

Don't think we'll get more than 5" where I am but drifting over a foot in areas for sure. Did anyone else hear the thunder hail around midnight last night? Where I am, you literally couldn't hear yourself think it was making so much noise hammering the house. I'll have an insurance adjuster out next week just to make sure there is no damage.
