Likely the latter. I made it to work with zero issues going generally 25-30 on the main streets and 45-55 on the highways. It’s really not that difficult.

But alas, I get it to where it would be problematic for busses on the side streets.

But for the rest of the workforce, a bit of an overreaction imo.

One problem is that the road crews are a bit understaffed right now and had warned it might be difficult for them to keep up with this storm on a timely basis.

KDOT ready but understaffed ahead of winter storm

Kansas road crews are preparing for a return to winter driving conditions. But while the crews are at the ready, many counties in the state remain understaffed.

Of course it is, but it's what we do now. Somebody might get left at the corner? Shut it down.

Bend the curve, shut it down.

Out here, we've had just under 7 1/2" of snow. I laid down and measured it myself. It's a very cold snow, I can tell you that.

I'm not sure we even got an inch of snow here in BuCo. Definitely not where I am. I know I drove to HS in a hell of a lot worse than this at 15.

This thread is a good read.

Exactly. If I want snow like this, I’ll go to Alaska.

I always felt like we get junk snow in Wichita. Not that nice powdery stuff they get in the mountains. Almost always starts as rain, than freezing rain/sleet and then some wet snow and then maybe a bit of nice snow and very often a lot of wind. I don't have the much of a drive to work, only about 4 miles but it was not the easiest drive this morning although traffic was very light. Will be heading home shortly.

Child, please. We had that much snow in September.
