Good one Molly. Next year the ladies will win more games than this year not matter who coach J brings in. Why? Cause she knows what it takes to win.

Hey, Hovpen. Even if Gatorade KS Player of the Year Taber Spani is listed as from Lees Summit, MO, we Kansans would do well to claim her as our own. For one thing, I think her family lives in Overland Park. For another, I cannot recall a Kansas player ever before being the object of such an intense UConn vs Tennessee recruiting war!

Not to mention her father is Gary Spani from Manhattan and a KSU Hall of Famer. The Metro Academy team Taber and her sisters play for is for home schooled kids and has quite a few Kansas girls on it. I just wish she had followed her sister to KSU instead of going to play for the Witch of Tennessee.
Her final 2 were KSU and Tennessee, not UCONN.

Shocks add 3 players all from Ft. Smith AR Juco.
Hard to say whether or not we have really upgraded the talent that much, although Morgan Boyd was Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year her senior season at Olathe East.
Marisah Henderson also transferred from Arkansas-Ft. Smith Juco.
Looks like we have good pipeline there, but time will tell whether that is good or bad.
Roster now up to 10 players. The 3 returning players, the 4 fall signees and the 3 spring signees.
Will this be it, or is there more to come?

According to the UA-Ft. Smith information:
The 5-foot-10 sophomore originally signed with the University of Arkansas but eventually signed with Middle Tennessee State following a coaching change at Arkansas.
Boyd played in only one game last season at Middle Tennessee State, scoring 3 points and grabbing two rebounds. She transferred to UA Fort Smith at semester break and redshirted during the spring semester.

She would have had to have had an injury. I'll ask her high school coach when I email him to find out how come they he beat so bad in softball by Northwest. :)
I can't see her only playing one game unless she transferred because of problems with coach.

One thing Jody did not accomplish with the Ft. Smith players was bringing in any size.
All our size will be inexperienced with incoming freshmen Jazimen Turner (6'2"), Michelle Price (6'1") and Chynna Turner (6'0") being our only six footers on the roster.
I suppose that may be good enough if they are very athletic. OTOH, Jody said she might sign two more players this Spring. A couple of bigger post players might not hurt, although maybe the style Jody wants to play values athleticism over size, which I suppose is OK also.

Guys, I'm not sure what you mean by the statement "count me in the group that thinks we aren't going to be much better than Arkansas-Fort Smith next year........ ".
Their program was excellent the last two years. In 2008 they finished 34-2 and a third place finish in the NJCAA Div 1 Tournament. One of their players (a freshman) transferred to aTm and was Newcomer of the Year in the Big 12. In 2009, they were 25-2 and top 10 ranked when they reported they had an ineligible player in 24 of the games and had to forfeit the wins to be 3-22. They still finished 5-2 with both loses to Connors (also Top 10 ranked) who accounted for 3 of their 4 actual losses - two by last position shots, including the Regional 2 finals. Their only other loss was in OT.
Given the strength (or lack of) in the Valley, I'm not sure this JUCO program (which is changing over to D 2 ball) wouldn't have given a lot of Valley teams fits. And we just got 3 of their leading players to go with a group of incoming freshmen that has been said to be the top recruiting class in the Valley.
