According to the game report on goShockers.com Alex was tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Michaela and Jamillah.

My guess is that MSU players Tyonna Snow and Kenzie Williams were also on the All-Tournament team but I still have not found any official conference release of that information.

The way I understand from what the announcers were saying is that this is the first team to win 3 consecutive MVC championships -- in the early 90's when MSU won it was still the Gateway Conference.

Ok. That makes sense, because I had heard both and wasn't sure why there was the discrepancy.

                Game writeup from the News-Leader.

The article notes that Snow was part of the all-tournament team, but there is still nothing on the Valley site regarding all-tournament.

From the Valley site: The Gateway Collegiate Athletic Conference - which began in 1982 - merged with The Missouri Valley Conference and was unveiled as part of the new conference on July 1, 1992.

On the MVC web site Jody says in her press conference the NCAA seeding committee doesn't know her team, they don't do their homework, our team is not a 13 seed. The ESPN announcers said we deserve 9-11 as a seed. Bracketology has us #13 at Kentucky vs. Kentucky. We can beat Kentucky, they are not UCONN. Let's bring a crowd wherever we go. I don't see this happening again anytime soon.

                    • Nice article focusing on Michaela's contributions. Not sure why a paper out of Greenfied, Indiana has this coverage but it is a good article:

Looks like this may have been an AP article. It's the same article that was on ESPN:

Expert recap and game analysis of the Wichita State Shockers vs. Missouri State Lady Bears NCAAW game from March 15, 2015 on ESPN.

Whether someone likes or dislikes Jody's (or Pat Summits') approach to the game, the one thing that does not seem to be a rational part of the discussion is whether it successfully produces championship-level results. I understand perfectly why someone might not want to come to a system like this or might leave it after they do come. Jody says regularly that this is not for everyone. It does seem to me however that the young women who are a fit become better basketball players, better people, and they get to experience something that WSU players never experienced in the past: championships.

More importantly, Jody seems to be growing as a coach. I think there was definitely a lighter touch at times this year in terms of her intensity and knowing when to really turn in on and when to back off a little. She was far more effusive in her public praise of players during the year (although some of this was just that they did such a good job of meeting expectations). I don't think we have yet seen the best of Jody as a coach. And that's a good thing because she is going to have to do a heck of a coaching job next year as we transition to life without Alex.

All I can say is this. If Jody has been failing as a coach in terms of her decisions about practices, minutes, and intensity, I cannot wait to see what happens when she finally figures it out.
