Beautiful choir rendition of the National Anthem at Tulsa tonight. Fergie could take some lessons.

Win or lose tonight, very impressive first season in the American. You seem ahead of schedule and Keitha is a keeper. Congrats on over-performing the preseason rankings. Us UCONN fans appreciate your dedication to WBB.

Thanks. Next year will be a challenge as HCKA inherited a roster of almost exclusively seniors. So we are more or less starting from scratch next year. So a good chance we will take a step backward for next year and perhaps the following year before we get it going in the right direction.

That said I have been positively impressed with what HCKA has done with this large group of inherited seniors who had not experienced much success.

Tied 5-5 early but the Shocks have 3 turnovers already on some really loose and lackadaiscial passing. Also they are playing a zone whichi quite frankly I don't think they paly partiuclarly well.

Shocks started big with Rangie, Angiee and Sabrina starting.

Refs must have changed the Tulsa 3 to a 2 as the score has been changed to 7-4.

Shocks much more active in their zone after the timeout.

Ranige goes out wiht 2:00 minutes left in the 1st quarter win an ankle injury after Kendrian Elliot (a big body) fell on her left leg with the Shocks leading 12-5.

.Shocks lead 14-8 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Angiee Tompkins doesn't look like she even wants to be there. Not sure wha is going on with her.

Rangie back in with 6:30 remaining in the half and promptly misses bunny.

Shocks lead 33-29 at the half but not looking very good doing it. This team consistently makes low BBIQ plays now and then just about every game. Diamond did step up late making a steal with 10 seconds left and then a nice dish to Cesaria for a wide open layup in transition with 5 seconds in the half to give the Shocks a bit of a boost at the half.

Quite frankly losing to a poor Tulsa team for the 2nd time this year and to a Tulsa team that has lost 11 of their last 12 games would be somewhat of an embarrassment but the Shocks aren't playing like it is that important to them. Hopefully, they will bring much more energy to the game in the 2nd half.

Angiee and Cesaria not doing much. Angiee almost seems like she might be sick.

Tied at 38 midway through the 3rd quarter. Thank goodness we are playing Tulsa. This game would probably be over against anyone else in the conference.

ECU loses at UCF 54-75 and the Shocks have locked in the 6th seed in the AAC Tournament. So I guess this game doesn't mean much outside of pride and Havoc in the Heartland points.

Diamond says enough of this crap. Shocks pressing to try to speed Tulsa up. Rangie gets a block that leads to a transition three-pointer by Diamond and then Diamond gets a transition 15-footer off of a steal. Shocks up 47-41.

The Shocks finally getting after it. Finish off the 3rd quarter on a 15-4 run over the final 4 minutes led by Diamon Lockhart to take a 55-45 lead. But the game isn't over yet.

Shocks got the lead up to 14 at 59-45 with 8:00 to play then decided that was enough effort. Tulsa on an 8-0 run since to make it 59-53 with 3:30 to go.

Shocks only made 3-14 shots from the field in the 4th quarter but hit 9-9 free throws to pull away late for a 70-59 win. Shocks played well for the last 6 minutes of the 3rd quarter and first 2 minutes of the 4th quarter then knocked down 9 of 9 free throws in the final 3:00 minutes and that was enough to get the win.

Diamond and Sabrina the co-POG's imo.

Shocks, picked to finish 10th, finish in a 5th place tie with Houston who lost to Cincy tonight and will be the 6th seed in the AAC Tournament. I suppose the Shocks were helped a bit by only having to play the top 4 finishers in the league (UConn, USF, UCF and Cincy) 1 time each although UConn (x2) and the Shocks were the only teams to beat USF in conference this year. That effort deserves a pat on the back and a :applause:

HCKA said it was kind of ugly but you take the wins, especially on the road, anyway you can get them.

Very nice finish for the Shocker seniors winning 9 of their final 12 games to finish off the regular season.

Temple and Tulsa tied for 11th in the AAC at 3-13. Temple will be the 11th seed by virtue of their 76-75 home win over Tulsa at the beginnin of February. Tulsa will be the 12th seed.

6th seeded WSU will open the season against 11th seeded Temple on this Saturday at 11:00 am CT with the winner getting #3 seeded UCF on Sunday at 11:00 am.

The Shockers are not on UConn's side of the bracket.

Last night, the top two seeds played each other in the final game of the regular season.

                      UConn 82-53 USF

UConn is slipping. Last night game was at UConn. In early January UConn played at USF and squeaked by them 100-49.

Kudos to coach and team. I didn't really know what to expect going in to this season, but was guessing between 1-4 conference wins, sooooooo....

Shocks season comes to an end at the AAC Tournament with 59-72 loss to Temple. I was able to listen to the 1st half but for the most part it just seemed like the Ladies were not particularly engaged today. Perhaps this group of seniors was just ready for it to be over. Hard to say. Overall though they did exceed expectations and deserve credit for that.

Now HCKA can turn her attention to building her program. Hopefully, she will be able to get her classes into better balance in a few years to avoid being stuck in a boom or bust cycle of performance.

My preliminary perception of her incoming recruiting class is pretty good. Time will tell. But my expectations for next year are not very high.

As expected UConn and USF have advanced to the AAC Tournament Championship Game where UConn will be the heavy, heavy favorite.

USF beat UCF in the semis 74-59 and UConn squeaked by Cincy 75-21. Cincy manage a whopping 5 points in the 1st half. Cincy was 8-58 from the field.

They were held scoreless for a stretch of over fifteen minutes including the entire second quarter.
