Shocks cruise in Set 1 winning by 25-16.

Tabitha and Abbie killing it. Mikaela not so much.

Not sure what they were trying to do with Mikaela but it wasn't clicking. She was 1-2-12 = .083.

Tabitha and Abbie combined to hit 9-0-13 = 0.693

Overall the Shocks outhit the Dukes .324 to .064.

25-16 pretty clean set as Duquesne had 14 kills for their 16 points. All our kills from Tabitha, Abbie, Abby, Mikaela and Emily.

Tight 2nd set. Shocks lead 16-14.

After Duquesne pull to within 1 the Shocks run off 4 straight to lead 20-15 and force a Duquesne timeout.

After the time out the Shocks extend the run to 9-0 to close out the set at 25-15. Similar score as Set1 although got there in a much different fashion.

Shocks let a 14-10 lead get away, but are now back up 21-15.

WSU finished that set off strong, going 9-0 for a 25-15 2nd set win.

Abby Pugh and Brooke Smith, the Shockers' 2 freshmen middles, aren't getting a high volume of swings but are a combined 8-0-16 for 0.500 which is certainly efficient scoring.

The Shocks have only made 3 attack errors. Abbie, Tabitha, Abby and Brooke are a combined 21-0-42 = 0.500 with all 4 right at or around the .500 attack % mark.

Shocks jump out to a 6-0 lead in Set 3 to extend their run of consecutive points to 15. Timeout Duquesne.

19 consecutive points before Duquesne ended the streak. 10-2 in the 3rd.

Mike mentioned that in his pre-game comments that none of heard that Lambo said they would be running some double quicks with his middles agaisnt Duquense. I think Lambo said last weekend that is something Miami (OH) ran and, if so, perhaps he thought that was a pretty effective strategy. Not sure how much we have run it today but apparently we have used it some.

Shocks close out the relatively easy sweep with a 25-11 win in Set 3.

Not sure how valuable this match was but good to get it out of the way. Perhaps a good warm up for what's ahead.

Now things will bet much more challenging for the Lady Shocks and provide them with a much better yardstick to measure where they are.

No doubt tonight's matchup will challenge every fiber of this program's existence. Really looking forward to the matchup and I hope Raudsepp has a good game after struggling today.

The one really interesting comment, the comment to close the show: He is about to quit worrying about the redshirt issue. He is just not getting enough production from enough places (Mikaela mentioned by name). There may be some surprises very soon he said.

Thanks. I received a telephone call right at the end of the 3rd set and missed Lambo's post-game comments.

The numbers do indicate Mikaela struggled to terminate hitting 5-4-25 = .040 and she had the most attempts on the team. This on a day when the rest of the team combined to hit 39-5-77 = 0.442. I don't know if there were any extenuating circumstances that impacted this. Maybe Mikaela was just overly excited and fired up about playing back at home.

I know Lambo has mentioned that 6-0 Freshamn OH Megan Taflinger has looked good at pracitce. I just don't know if it would be wise to throw her in against the likes of Oregon, Cal Poly, Creighton and Iowa State for her initial dose of D-1 volleyball. But we'll see. Mikaela could also bounce back tonight and have a strong match. She has been a bit up and down so far this year.
