Set Three
Shockers 25-11 Texas State
Jordan Roberts, a redshirt freshman setter from Corpus Christi and with family in the stands, ends the match with two service aces.
The Shocks hit .374 to .061. Blocks were eight to two. Aces-errors were -1 (7-8) to -1 (2-3). Abbie was .421 (8-0-19), Mikaela was .333 (7-1-18), Tabitha was .333 (9-3-18), Jody was .400 on 6-2-10 and Emily was .400 on 4-0-10.
Post-game:
Tabitha and Mikaela did well. Still need more production from Katy/Regan. Pleased with Alex on the block and service receive after she came in for Jody. She was 3-0-5 for .600.

Had to go into a meeting and missed the 3rd set. Shocks did a nice job without Jody.

After looking at the scores of the Texas State vs Texas Tech match and the WSU vs Texas Tech match I was expecting the WSU vs Texas State match to be quite a bit more competitive. Then add the injury to Jody to the mix and a 17-17-11 sweep was a bit surprising.
Me thinks Lambo may have decided Tech did not need a lot of scouting and prep work and he may have focused his preparations on Texas State and UTSA.
I think Lambo probably can live with 8 service errors when his team can ring up 7 aces in the process.
Nice to see Mikaela bounce back from her struggles this morning against Texas Tech.Last edited by 1972Shocker; September 16, 2016, 06:59 PM.

UNI is hosting a Tournament this weekend that includes Illinois State. Right now Illinois State is leading UNI 2-1 and are sending a message that they will have to be reckoned with in the Valley along with WSU, MSU, SIU and UNI.
Update: UNI won the 4th set 29-27 although they may have been saved by a bad call. Illinois State had rallied from a 10-16 deficit to get back in the set and appeared to have it won on at 26-24 on an attack by UNI that went long. However, one of the officials ruled a touch at the net I think (not 100% sure if that was the call) and gave UNI the point. Sure did not look like a touch on the ESPN3 replay. UNI apparently has opted out of replay reviews.
Set 5 goes to the Redbirds 15-11 as they knock of a good UNI team in Cedar Falls. Looks like the Valley can lay claim to 5 very solid Volleyball teams this year.Last edited by 1972Shocker; September 16, 2016, 08:27 PM.
