      Set Three

      Shockers 25-20 Texas Tech

We are through this one and on to the next one. About all you can say.

Shocks hit .271 v .163. Shocks had ten service errors v three for Tech and led in blocks, eight to four. Abbie hit . 370, Jody hit .385 and Tabitha hit .303. The other part of the "wheel" had Katy at .000 and Mikaela hit .043.

      From the post-game:

Texas Tech was prepared for Mikaela - their libero did a very good job. We need to get Katy going. Regan was a middle in some part(s?) of the rotation and did a solid job.

The service errors (and ratio to aces) is too high, given that only Tabitha is serving aggressively.

Lambo said that it appeared TT was focused on taking Mikaela away and they did a good job of that holding her to 6-5-23 = 0.043 and Katy Dudzinski also continues to struggle getting things going hitting 1-1-7 = .000. Reagan Peare gave the Shocks a nice contribution of the bench hitting 2-0-6 = .333 plus 5 digs although she did have 2 service errrors. I just caught the tail end of Lambo's comment on serving but it sounded like he felt like they were making to many service errors considering that other than Tabitha the team really is not overly aggressive with their serving.

Abbie, Jody and Tabitha, however, were pretty solid and were good enough to lead the Shocks to a sweep.

Good luck Tech the rest of the year, think they would have scouted us a little or at least checked the box scores. Would think you would come in wanting to stop Tabitha and Jody? Maybe he just decided they couldn't. Going to get a little tougher now, Let's go Shocks!

            UTSA 3-0 Texas Tech
            12, 22, 12

A mauling. But it was a match with a quick turnaround for the Red Raiders and their third match of the tournament.

Texas Tech proved that their 9-2 record coming in was fool's gold resulting from a weak schedule. Can't blame them I guess. There will be precious few opportunities for Red Raider wins in the Big 12 this season. Thankfully, the will play enough good RPI teams in the Big 12 to hopefully keep them from being too much of an RPI drag on the Shocks.

Glad the Shocks got them as their warm up match in this tournament this morning.

Now they need to take care of business against 2 better volleyball teams with Texas State up next.

Shocks are playing Texas State for the 4th time in 5 years. Lambo says this is the best Texas State team they will have faced.

Texas State has changed their lineup recently and they look better to Lambo compared to earlier in the year. Have a couple of defenses they generally use.

Regan Peare is really not built for the M-1 position so they need to find more productive use of Katy D.

                  Texas State pre-game:

The best Texas State team we have seen of our recent matches with them. Another team with good offense behind the setter. Changed their lineup from earlier in the season, and it makes more sense to Lambo.

Katy will start - we need to get her going.

Shockers off to a quick 11-4 lead and the Bobcats take a TO. Two of their four points are on service errors.

A 15-5 Shocker lead becomes 15-8 and the Shockers take a TO.

16-10 moves out to 19-10 and Texas State takes their second TO.

3 aces to 2 errors for the Shocks also a big improvement from this morning.

Jody gets a kill to make it 4-1 but hurts her lower left leg, not obviously seriously. Alex is in for her.

NOTE: She was stepped on/rolled on under the net by a Bobcat.

9-6 becomes 12-6 and Texas State takes a TO after a kill by Alex on a pipe set.

The Bobcats close to 16-13, but the Shockers stretch it out to 21-15 and Texas State calls a TO.
