Obviously Boise State must have a pretty solid team, but no way they should have beat us like a drum the way they did.

Sydney McKinney made more history on Saturday, extending her hit streak to 28. That puts her into the NCAA record book, tied for the 17th longest in NCAA history.

        Game Five

        Shockers v Fairleigh Dickinson

Lineup: The Five, Sami, Taylor, Lainee, Camryn 3B with Lauren in the circle.

Still trying to see who wants to claim RF and 1B/3B.

Maybe overlooked, but by my count, Syd had 5 consecutive hits to end last season, and 5 more to begin this season. The record is 13 consecutive hits (3 women) with 2 more at 12 and 3 at 11. That puts Syd in a tie with 6 others at 9th with 10 consecutive hits all time D1 Softball.

Julia Swan, #2 in the IP list for the Knights, is their starter.

In the first, Lolo has a grand slam and Taylor has a solo shot. 5-0 in the middle of the first.

I am gone for the duration. Somebody else can have a go at it.

Shocks tack on 4 in the 2nd capped by another Lolo home run, this one a solo shot, and 3 more in the 3rd.

Lauren and Kenzie combine on a 3 hit shut out. Lauren went the first 4 inning giving up 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 hit batter while striking out 7. Kenzie had an interesting 5th innning. A lead off single followed by 2 strikeouts, then 2 hit batters and then a game ending strikeout.

Not quite sure what to make of this weekend. The pitching was good except for the Boise State game with 4 shut outs. But was that good ptiching or weak opposing offenses?

It was good to see a little production from the bottom 4 in the lineup. Still a bit perplexed and concerned about the power outage from Addison. 1 home run and 2 RBI in 11 games from Addison. However, she is 7-7 in stolen bases.

The 2 games next week against North Texas should provide a decent measuring stick. Not sure about Northwestern State.

It’s good to see the bats heat up, even if it’s against FDU and San Diego. It was worrisome to see them struggle so much against Utah Tech and Boise.

Mixed bag so far. Pitching has probably been all we could expect to this point. I think we have to hope Howell and Aguilar continue to get comfortable and really progress as the year goes on. Our only notable win so far is Texas State. Need to try and grab at least one at UNT next weekend.

Hood and Sedlacek seem to be getting more comfortable.
