Pretty efficient work in the circle by Alex so far. 3 innings allowing only 1 singled and facing only 10 batters with only 30 pitches.

Another K in the third in a three-up, three-down inning for the Knights.

Addison walks with two outs and steals second. Lauren walks also and Addison advances to third on the wild pitch/ball four. Zoe then cranks a three-run homer. Lolo follows with a single, and Sami on a full count hits her first Shocker home run. 7-0 and FDU brings on Alayna Savaglio, their ace. She gets the out, and it is 7-0 after three.

Two strikeouts on six pitches for Alex to start the fourth. The third out is a fly out.

Lainee is hit by a pitch to start the Shocker fourth. With two outs, Addison is safe on a dropped pop up with Lainee advancing to third. Lauren reaches on another error with Lainee scoring and leaving runners at the corners. A double steal and Addison scores; a triple by Zoe and Lauren scores. The lead is 10-0 after four.

Alex hits a batter to start the fifth - on a 3-0 count, no less. Ground out, pop up, and her seventh K to end the game.


Fairleigh Dickinson 0-10(5) Shockers

Alex pitched a one-hit shutout with six Ks and no walks. Only six hits for the Shockers but a triple and homer by Zoe drive in four, and Sami had her first homer as a Shocker. Sydney added a triple to the mix.

Addison not contributing much with her bat yet but she does have 4 stolen basis including a steal of home on the back end of a double steal I think. Addison has scored 3 of the Shockers' 10 runs.

Very effective 5-inning 1-hit shut out facing only 2 batters over the mimimum by Alex. Only needed 59 pitches and got plenty of support by the offense in this one.

Shockers at San Diego

Same lineup as earlier - almost. Zoe at 1B with Krystin at 3B and batting in the nine hole, replacing Caroline. Alison is the starter.

Madison Earnshaw with the second most innings for the Toreros is their starter.

Single by Sydney and infield single by Addison to start the game. Zoe follows shortly with a three-run jack. Lolo has an infield single and one out later, Taylor triples down the line past a diving right fielder to score Lolo. Lainee follow with an infield single to score Taylor. The Shocker have five as we move to the bottom of the first.

With this strike zone, the plate umpire does not intend to be out there long.

A walk (maybe) to lead off the USD first is followed by a K and a force out and a well-fielded comebacker. 5-0 after one.

Giame starts the second in the circle for USD. Sydney drive a pitch to the fence in left-center. She was given an inside-the-park homer, but I thought it was a triple and a mishandled relay. Whatever. Addison singles, steals second and advances on a throwing error. Lauren's infield single scores Addison, Zoe's triple (again!) scores Lauren, and Lolo's sac fly scores Zoe. Sami singles but no more scoring. (Wow! A 9-0 strike on Taylor.) 9-0 in the middle of the second.

USD is down in order in their half of the second. 9-0.

Enough. Bedtime for me.

I agree. I thought Syd's inside the parker should have been scored a triple and an error.

After watching Addison's 4 at bats tonight I still think she has changed her setup at bat. Seems to me that last year she would wrap the bat pretty much around the back of her head and hold it almost horizontal. This year she is holding with the barrel up and not wrapping around her head anywhere near the way she did last year. Maybe tayloreldridge can dig into this because it could just be my imagination.

The Shocks finish a 13-0 5-inning run rule with Alison pitching a no-hitter. Just as Alex did against FDU Alison faced only 2 batters over the minimum as she did walk 2. Over 10 innings today Shocker pitching allowed no runs on 1 hit and needed only 124 pitches to get the job done and allowing only 4 base runners.
