    Post-match results

After a slow first set, we adjusted on their outsides (the style of set they were getting) and held them in check.

    Served tough.

WVU avoided Gio so her digs numbers (15) were down.

    Serve-pass was a plus.

Alex had one of her best matches as a Shocker - a double-double with a line of 15-1-32 for .438 and a match-leading 16 digs.

I think this was an important win for the Shocks. It guarantees they will come out of the tournament at 4-2 after two weekends and coming into the season that is probably about as good as I would expect.

No pressure tomorrow Ladies. Go out and enjoy the challenge, play hard and learn from the experience. You just never know what might happen.

No doubt but not to throw water on the parade, WVU was a unanimous selection for last in the B12. After watching the BYU - Stanford match last night, today is a ridiculous test for the Shocks. The goal is to get better facing a minimum of FIVE All Americans on the floor today.

In the opening set, BYU is currently leading #1 Stanford 22-18.

Stanford rallies to win the next two sets. Going to a fifth. Hopefully both teams are a little physically and emotionally drained for tomorrow, but I doubt it will be enough.

It was...tons of talent and effort on the floor last night in an epic 5 set match.

BYU wins the fifth set 15-11 to upset the #1 team in the country. Should be interesting to see where we are as a team playing both of these squads tomorrow.

I think it’s pretty clear that we’ll be lucky to win a set all day tomorrow. These two teams are on a different level and I think we’re obviously quite a few steps below who we were last year.

              That’s not pessimism, just realistic.

I agree. "My" goal is to see how many sets we can get 20+ points. None would not surprise me.

3 for 3 surely stunned me.

              Shockers v Stanford

              Pre-match comments

Mike reviews the studs on the Cardinal led by Kathryn Plummer.

BYU-Stanford last night was a court full of All-Americans.

Shockers still in WSU-mode, not worrying about the opponent so much.

Serving is a priority against the patterns of the opponent (Stanford).

Try to create confidence by playing well against really good teams rather than getting wins against common teams. Victories may be in a point well-played.

14-14 set one. Amazing how close this one is. Stanford serves so much tougher and has several players who can crush a volleyball, but we're tied.
