  • Anyone know how his rebounds would compare to some of our players based on 40 minutes?

Not sure what that will really tell you in this case, because Blair is our leading rebounder, but only playing 16 minutes a game. That would average to about 12.5 per 40 minutes.

I haven't found any stats on Hall regarding minutes played, however, he's averaging 10-11 rebounds per game.

      • I think Hall plays 25-30 minutes per game, so he is likely a comparable rebounder to Blair. That's a good thing as we are loosing our top three posts and with Blair being the best rebounder and Durley being the best scorer, he probably has the best of both of them. While he blocks shots, I would be doubtful if he were as good of a defender as Ellis, and there is always the adjustment to the speed of the D-I game and issues with foul trouble and increased defensive contact...

I don't know that he'll be a superstar, but with Ellis, Blair, and Durley all on their way out, HCGM could not have addressed the PF position any better than with Hall. Jake White, I believe will also be good, but there are probably 5 White type PFs that WSU could have signed. There are only about 5 Carl Hall's available to all of D-I for next year.

White was probably option 1b or 2a for Marshall this year. Carl Hall would have ranked in priority with any top 50 kid Marshall could talk to. He was the one we wanted no matter what...the question was always, will he want us. I guess I'd call that option IAA.

            1. Thanks, Trop.
            2. Wow.
            3. Assists - a nice surprise.

If Carl can deliver these numbers at WSU, then extra wow.

              • It's been a MONTH since he HASN'T had a double double.

As HCGM so often refers to, dude has a motor.

We don't have a Ryan Martin or Ramon Clemente right now. We could use one.

I have the good fortune of sitting on row 8 on the corner. From my seat, I got to see Ryan and Ramon up close and personal. Fans sitting on row 8 at mid court just cannot fathom the true power and presence of those two players.

I have been told quite a few times, that Shocker players just hated playing against Ryan in practice. I imagine it was the same for Ramon as well.

                  • Interesting that you brought up Ramon. Hall's game reminds me of Ramon's. Hall is a little taller and more of a scorer, though. I am eager to see how his game transitions to D1.

                      • The part that I really like is the stat that says he hasn't attempted a 3 pt shot yet.

I remember Ramon as being like babysitting a 5 year-old on a sugar high. He was non-stop energy, persistent, relentless much like Jamar Howard. I watched all 3 games in Hutch that Hall played last year. He is a load down low. He is savy in gaining body position to receive the ball where he can be most effective. He didn't strike me as a hair on fire kind of player like Ramon & Jamar. Not that it matters who he reminds any of us who he is like, what matters is he is a stud and should step right in at the PF spot and make us better next year.

I agree with the above. He was not "an energy guy" in what I saw. Physical, athletic, and a handful? Yes. Balls to the wall? No.

                              • I was referring more to his knack of getting the ball and getting a shot up as well as his rebounding.
