Apparently, some progress is now being made. The word "now" being the emphasis. With a change in regime has also came a change in attitude towards certain personnel. A welcome change if I must say so. 8)
I am not following.
With all the previous staff now ensconced in Tejas, who is left to receive the change in attitude?
Nevertheless, Little Cheese would be a great recruit for us.
To address, the previous staff had little or no interest in pursuing the mentioned recruit. The formers felt there was minimal chance of landing said recruit and therefore felt their efforts would be better served in other areas.
The new regime has a different outlook and has initiated contact with him. The interest is apparently mutual. That is all. 8)
Tonight at the ball game, I talked to an insider - a locker room insider. I told him of your comment. He said he has been given the same information, which you posted.
This is great news to say the least. What could it hurt to jump in the mix with both feet for Noel? Sometimes in life, ultimate goals can be accomplished by those who have the vision and confidence to seek and pursue those dreams. If we don't get Noel, we should at least go down swinging with our best efforts. We were in the Sweet 16 a few years ago and a number 8 team briefly last year and sell out our Areana with a diligent fan base now.. We have nothing to be ashamed of and CGM is not bashful.
Why not set the recruiting bar high and reach for the stars? The worst they can say is no. Then one day, a yes followed with a friend to come as well and then------Watch Out-----other recruits take notice and do the same. Like the song-----Convoy!!! Count me in.
This may not be a basketball topic---- :wsu_posters: but what about our Shocker baseball team? Yippppeeeee!!!!!!! :goshocks: That was awesome tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo:
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
Because of the info above, for the first time in four months, I'm considering Noel more than just a pipedream. A new Rival's article yesterday. Nothing much new except that Ohio State's Matta made a favorable impression with Noel.
I'm making this up, but guess who I'm thinking about -
"I was playing golf with Larry Brown one day. We were on a par 5 and Larry Brown and I both hit our tee shots about 300 yards. Larry Brown told me to lay up with an iron, because only people like Larry Brown could get on the green in 2. Larry Brown hit first, used a fairway driver and put the ball on the green. I hit second and used a 5-iron to chip to within 60 yards of the green".
If you give up when you see who the competition is and what they're doing, you tend to lose. If you go for it all "any place, anywhere, any competitor", you're going to get your butt handed to you more than a few times and smashed in the mouth more than a few times, but sooner or later you're going to be the guy who takes down the big boys.
There is probably a clue in this thread why WSU was short on frontcourt players so often the last several years.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
He did seem to "apologize" a bit too much didn't he. I often wondered if that carried over in his "sales presentations" when in a kid's living room and meeting the family. Oh well Sweet-16 , #8 ranking and getting kids to graduate all postive things. Seven year cycle complete...time for somone with more aggression and a little more belief! :good:

I actually disagree with you guys, I think MT tried too "Hard" going after guys he had little chance of getting and was terrible recruiting big-men who needed work.
It's like you guys completely forgot about guys like Chris Barnes and Ryan Gomes. Guys like that were highly recruited and liked MT. Many of the current aTm players knew MT when they were recruited in HS and had great things to say about him.
MT was able to get unbelievable results by getting players to play a roll, but not necessarily improving their game.
I think we made an upgrade in Gregg Marshall. I think he's actually a better fit for WSU. I think he will recruit players that "develop" and prepare them to win games in the Valley.

It's not that Mark never tried, but I wonder how hard sometimes. To pretty much completely give up on recruiting the son of a former Shocker this early in the game is hard to believe. But I'm not sure he put as much effort as he could have into some of these guys he looked at. We all knew Chris Barnes was probably going to end up at Georgia and I don't think Ryan Gomes was that big of a deal coming into college. Not that he was a slouch or anything. We heard it for years from Mark. We often complained about how he obviously had a preconcieved notion of what he could do here and on way to many occasions would talk about how tough it is to do so many things "at this level."
First of all, I know I am now guilty of bumping this thread, but...;-)
Is there any indication at all that "Little Cheddar" is interested in WSU, or that we are even recruiting him. This thread started in November 2005. What is the record for longest running thread? Are records kept on such things? FWIW, I'd be down with "Little Cheddar" as he clearly is a "Big Ol' Badass Balla!"
I'm not trying to stir the pot here, which seems to be my talent. Just asking.
There had been talk that Turgeon let it be known that we were in contact with him. That was about it. Shock Ref has stated that there is interest from the new coaching staff and that interest from Noel was mutual. So, I believe we can say that we are recruiting him and he has at least some degree of interest in us.
