If this young man is as good as "Lynbert Cheese", then he is worth every ounce of recruiting effort we muster up. "Cheese" was an awesome Shocker----among the elite here ever.

"Cheese" will always be among the the Shocker greats. No arguments from anyone on that topic. Whether or not his son would consider WSU is clearly up to Noel and (possibly) his parents. When this topic was started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I never even gave it a second thought that he would consider coming to WSU. Why would he? Why would anyone that wanted the opportunity to shine and potentially make a name for themself as far as the "next level?"

Turgeon employed a system. He recruited role players to fit the system. There were no, were never going to be any "stars" under Turgeon. If a high schooler wanted a chance to shine and really make it to the next level, Turgeon was not the coach to try and achieve it under.

WSU has historically had some excellent coaches (Turgeon among them) who have given players a chance to shine. That's what many of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s got to see - Wichita's version of "showtime." I think Marshall's style of play is more open and will actually give players a chance to shine a little, and for that reason, I think our recruiting will improve quite a bit. Whether or not that includes Noel is yet to be seen. If he can go to Ohio State (national runner up), well, maybe he wants that status.

Truly special players can attend big name programs and achieve great things and go on to the next level after 1 or 2 years. Most are forgotten. There are more than a handful of these same players who are sitting on the benches of big name schools who would shine at smaller schools. It's all a matter of choice. Thankfully, Cheese, AC, X, Cliff and others chose to come here and have done for themselves what no 1 or 2 year collegiate superstar have ever done, and that's create a name and legacy for themselves that goes beyond what they did in the pro game.

Now is the time that Noel realizes that this link will be bumped until the cows come home or he signs with our Shockers. Noel would be a franchise player and he is worth all of our time, interests and efforts. Could he be another Cheese? Who knows, but Cheese will always be royality here in doo-dah. No matter what this young man decides to do, many of us will follow his career diligently.

This article is about the potential of Noel and Derrick Favors (Rivals #5 in the class of '09) going to the same school. They don't call themselves a package deal, but if the opportunity came up to play college ball together, they definitely would be in favor of it.

They both are considering NC State and Noel visited their campus in May when he was in the area for a AAU tournament. Listed as among other schools Noel is considering are Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Florida State, Memphis and Georgia Tech.
