Coach B: "We need you. You can lead our team and we can build a team around you. We want you playing for us. You're going to be a star".

Obviously, I just made that up to show the difference between a "low key" approach and a "hard sell" approach. After hearing those types of comments for months with daily contacts, what do you think the attitude of the players who sign with each coach would be when they hit campus? Which approach do you think fits Marshall better?

It's not absolutely necessary to get all the recruiting done in the fall, but it's everybody's first choice, especially the coaching staff.

Obviously it is not everybody's first choice or there would be no players available to sign after November 1st. Many players, especially the upper echelon, whose choice is after all the most important one in the equation prefer to wait until the Spring or even Summer and this appears to be a growing trend. Many of these are wanting to wait so they can evaluate the lay of the land with possible player movement among the better programs. For example, what's it looking like for Landry Shamet and Markis McDuffie at Wichita State? This can have a major influence on player choices.

The more you play in the 4 and 5 star pool the more you will be faced with this situation.

I do agree that probably all fans and most coaches wish it was over by the November signing period. But that is just not the world we are living in at this point.

Maybe he moves up his visit?

This kid seems really flaky to me. I already wasn't a fan of his "they love me, they love me a lot" take on his recruitment.

2018 4 Star Wing Landers Nolley (@thatbooych3z) confirms to me that he has pushed his commitment date up to Oct 7th

It seems as if 2018 4 Star Landers Nolley (@thatbooych3z) has cut his list to 3: Illinois, VA Tech, and GA State with committing Oct 7 now

Landers Nolley (@thatbooych3z) had visits set to Georgia Oct 13-15 and Wichita State Oct 20-22. Looks like they will be cancelled

If the kid really wants to commit but still take 2 official visits after that, those schools should cancel. No way is Marshall going to host a kid that has already committed.

So if that's how Nolley wants to play it, that's further proof of his flakiness. Let Underwood deal with him.

I don't think the kid is a flake. I just think the writer doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Not only would Marshall not like a kid committing and then taking a visit to his program, but Underwood would hate it. As we all know, committing is the unofficial way of telling other schools to back off (even though some still pursue until the recruit signs on the dotted line). Taking visits after committing is not how this stuff works.

So I would put that idiotic comment on the writer, not Landers.
