Rivals released a new Top 150 today. I listed the players below that WSU may still have a chance to land, in my opinion. You can view the rankings here: https://n.rivals.com/prospect_rankings/rivals150/2018
Bryan Penn-Jonson #84 (Was #81)
Amanze Ngumezi #106 (Was NR)
Keyontae Johnson #114 (Was #118)
Nate Hinton #115 (Was NR)
Alex Lomax #122 (Was #122)
Jared Butler #123 (Was #139)
Dimon Carrigan #145 (Was #144)
Reggie Chaney #148 (Was NR)
Are the Shox going to land a Top 150 recruit in the 2018 class?

There is plenty of room at the Inn for Udeze, for Amanzi Ngumezi (6-9, 235), Dimon Carrigan (6-9, 212) and/or Bryan Penn-Johnson (7-0, 215).
Any 2 of those 4 plus a good quality JUCO big man would not only work but that is what is needed (at least as far as big men go).
Edit: I did forget about Poor Bear over at Sunrise who is reportedly 6-8 to 6-9 and 240. So we could get by with any 1 or 2 of these guys and perhaps a quality JUCO big. If we don't get any of these freshman bigs 3G might decide to go for 2 JUCO bigs or maybe a JUCO big and a transfer. We have a few JUCO bigs on our radar already.Last edited by 1972Shocker; August 31, 2017, 07:53 PM.

So depending on how 3G plays this we could be very young on the front line. Even if he goes the JUCO route we will be young in terms of D-1 experience.
So we have 7-0, 270 So., 6-9, 240 Fr., ______?________, and ______?________
We also have the 2 tweens moving on in Zach and Rashard. We have Rod Brown in the house who may redshirt. Is Vince Williams a possibility to fill the Rashard Kelly spot or will 3G try to find more of a stretch 4 for that spot. Seems like Reggie Chaney would be an ideal replacement for Rashard.
We have Conner moving on and Erik Stevenson moving in.
Then we have the ? marks surrounding Landry and Markis returning. I think Markis will be back but that's not a lock. If Landry lives up to his pre-season billing he may very well be gone nest year.
So we have 6 slots for sure and perhaps as many as 8. Only 2 of those are filled (Erik and Poor Bear) since Rod reclassified to 2017.
I think 3G is definitely going to want another point or combo guard, 2 bigs and perhaps a stretch 4.Last edited by 1972Shocker; August 31, 2017, 09:29 PM.

And if he gets the JUCO guys he wants ready to commit in November he might sign all 6 slots that are definitely opening up. Or maybe he gets a too-good-to-pass up high school senior or two.

Holding back 1 or 2 slots for next Spring/Summer. I guess that could be somewhat dependent on how he handicaps the chances of Landry and/or Markis leaving. He certainly has far more info than any of us do on that front.

What I like about the success we are already receiving with this important class of recruits is we will have "playing time" for possible starters, rotation players, defenders, laser shooters, scorers, and finishers" up for grabs. I'm thinking we could end up with a nice mix of 3 and 4 star recruits from high school and or prep schools with 4 years to play. Keep in mind of the excellence of not only how our coaches can skillfully evaluate players, but also develop them into much improved players through the Marshall Plan process. Next, in the mix could, and probably will include, a pinch of Juco players or Transfers that could spread out the future recruiting process somewhat. This seems complicated for laymen such as myself but very doable for our coaches who are masterful at this procedure.
The "catch 22" of this is how electrifying it is to see all of the experts picking us in the top 10 with such an experienced and proven returning squad knowing that now we are now also sprinkled with players that could leave early to the Pros somewhere. The end result is new challenges to keep upgrading our quality of recruits to 'step right up to the pump' and keep progressing forward. This is not near as easy as it may appear, but a 'slow belly' as myself is not the one in charge here but coaches I would not trade for any others because they maintain clean shaves and a tireless work ethic, along with keen evaluating abilities that are second to none.
In the scheme of things, this is like the kid awaiting and anticipating the best Christmas of all, with this process being amplified and ramped up as the days grow nearer. Could the end result be still more thrills and chills futuristic down at 21st and Hillside? Stay tuned.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

If we bring in a juco transfer the first year (or even a freshman), they would learn the system the first semester and contribute the second semester. The second year, they would contribute for both semesters. So over the 2 years, there would be 1 semester learning the system and 3 semesters contributing.
