  • Yesterday was the first day of the school year that coaches could leave campus to talk or watch recruits. A member of the coaching staff traveled to Nevada to meet with Reggie Chaney at Findlay Prep. Other visitors were Arkansas and TCU. His fourth official visit Texas A&M, did not attend. He's taking an official to Arkansas next weekend. I think Reggie would be a real steal for us. Already looks like a grown man.

    New highlights from Rivals:

    Reggie Chaney - https://basketballrecruiting.rivals....-reggie-chaney
    Bryan Penn-Johnson - https://basketballrecruiting.rivals....mer-highlights
    Jared Butler - https://basketballrecruiting.rivals....mer-highlights

    • Shocks02 or anyone can answer this if you think you can. You've stated that WSU isn't the favorite for Butler and you said that we have a 1% chance of signing him. Who is considered or who do you consider the favorite for Butler?

He's taking official visits to Virginia, Alabama, Texas and Baylor. He cut his list to six, so it's those four along with WSU and USC. You would basically have to hope he takes a fifth visit.

          • For those of you that have been following Clay Gayman, he finally picked up his first Division 1 offer last night from Abilene Christian. It was looking like he may end up at Washburn or Pitt State. It amazes me that schools like Drake, Evansville and Loyola aren't after this kid.

            Added Offers:
            Clay Gayman (Abilene Christian)
            Tyrese Samuel (Baylor, Tulane)

A couple of guys who don't have threads also committed. Michael Durr to South Florida and Isaac Likekele to Fresno State. Michael Durr will be a very big body to handle in the American.

            Commitments:
            Michael Durr (South Florida)
            Isaac Likekele (Fresno State)

            • Shocks02, what does the asterisk denote on some of these recruits in the updated list you offered yesterday?

The asterisk designates a list that was provided from a source other than the recruit. So if no asterisk, it's an official list cut (or in some cases, no list given). Schools before the - designates either an official visit or a recruit quoted saying these schools are recruiting him hardest.

With Serrel Smith going to Ole Miss, I would think that might knock them out of consideration for Lomax. I don't think they were high on his list anyways, but Lomax is the one I want to land.

Ole Miss should have plenty of 2018 scholarships available if Lomax does decide to go there. However he would come in behind three young guards starting their freshman or sophomore seasons there and I'm not sure that's an ideal situation for Alex. Mizzou likely won't sign another guard. It has to be between Memphis, Florida and WSU. Florida is on a ton of other Top-100 guards, so we need to pray they get a commit from someone else soon.

Keep in mind that Lomax hasn't visited Florida and hasn't announced any plans that he intends to. He's only officially visited WSU and Ole Miss and taken numerous unofficial visits to Memphis. I wouldn't be worried about him signing with the Gators until after a visit happens.

                    • We have four openings yet to fill this year. Would like to see us land a PG, SF, PF, and C.

Give me Lomax, BPJ, and Chaney please!

                      • While roaming through Twitter this afternoon I came across the new Wichita State MBB account. Turns out, they follow recruits through this account regularly. I'm starting to think this would be a good barometer to tell who we're actively pursuing right now. This account isn't more than a month old so everyone has been followed fairly recently. I'm guessing the account is run by the grad assistants and maybe some of the assistant coaches?

                        Here are the recruits we are already aware of that are being followed;
                        Alex Lomax
                        Bryan Penn-Johnson
                        Dimon Carrigan
                        Morris Udeze
                        Jal Bijiek
                        Blake Brinkmeyer
                        Antun Maricevic
                        Isaiah Bujdoso
                        Diante Wood
                        LaDarius Marshall
                        Darius Days
                        Keyontae Johnson
                        Neftali Alvarez
                        Reggie Chaney
                        Keyshawn Bryant
                        Michael Barber

                        And here are some recruits we didn't know as much about. I'm not going to add a thread for each guy, but will add them to the 2018 summary page;
Zach Naylor - 6'7 - Forward - Weatherford CC (Texas)
Seems to be more of a small forward than a power forward. Averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds in his freshman season in JUCO. 1.3 A/TO ratio, 41% from three and 73% from free-throw line.
                        Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUpxIa2JqWk

Darius Allen - 6'4 - Shooting Guard - Palm Beach State CC (Florida)
Didn't remember the name but appears we recruited him out of high school. Average 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his freshman season in JUCO. Horrid A/TO ratio at 0.4. Shot 33% from three and 56% from the field. Looks like a slashing off-ball guard with elite athleticsm. Has a number of high-major suitors.
                        Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFQRHHsGLbc & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmQIFkU-VN4

Javion Hamlet - 6'3 - Point Guard - Motlow State CC (Tennessee)
2.6 A/TO ratio - that's almost unheard of in the Juco ranks. Averaged 15.5 points per game while shooting 34% from three and 78% from the free-throw line.
                        Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz4IcdQzbxA

                        Cooper Kaifes - 6'3 - Guard - Shawnee, KS
Been hearing about this kid for awhile now. Attends Mill Valley HS in Shawnee. Averaged 10 points and 2.5 assists per game for Mo-Kan Elite on the EYBL circuit. Had a 2:1 A/TO ratio, shot 40% from three and 82% from the free-throw line, also averaged 1 steal per game. Holds offers from UNI, Missouri St, Loyola, Drake, UNCG and Oral Roberts. Could be a diamond in the rough.
                        Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIzHCNVRFmQ

                        Zac Watson - 6'7 - Forward - Frisco, TX
Couldn't find his AAU team. Conscenus 3-star recruit who has had high-major offers.
                        Highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/4746528...dca026404c44e7

Myreon Jones - 6'3 - Point Guard - Birmingham, AL
Offers from Alabama, Georgia and UAB. Played for the Georgia Stars on the Nike EYBL. Averaged 15 points, 4.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds. 1.3 A:TO ratio, 30% from three and 72% from the free-throw line.
                        Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSWkn-Vu6Z8

                        Robert Allen - 6'8 - Forward - Orlando, FL
There aren’t too many players that play hard from start to finish. Allen has a relentless motor, he does a good job of rebounding inside and outside of his area. In the half court, Allen showed that he can put the ball on the floor going left, connect on mid-range jumpers, and finish around the basket. Allen caught the attention of several programs this summer. http://ontheradarhoops.com/otrhoopsr...n-aug-11-2017/

College football is heating up - and so are key basketball visits across the country. Here are the most significant.
