  • These guys don't have a clue how to measure height.

    5 star recruits are 7'-7'1"'
    4 star 6-11 w/ elite BMI & body fat under 3%. Also benches 450+
3 star and below nobody knows or cares because you can't measure a kid going to a mid-major.

Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

      • Asbjorn may be the most important recruit WSU has had in a long time. He's not the best recruit or doesn't have the most potential, but he is extremely important. Following next year Morris, Nurger, Kelly and Willis will all be leaving. At this point considering the scholarship situation, I'd say house money is on Hamilton not being around next year (someone's going to have to leave... he seems like a great ETSU transfer candidate to me). We are looking at the very realistic, if not likely, possibility that come Asbjorns sophomore year he will be called upon to play major minutes (30+) as the only big man with experience on the roster. I'd say if McDuffie puts on 15-20 lbs between now and then he can play some 5 in certain matchups, but who knows. It is imperative that Asbjorn comes in and "gets it". If he takes the same path as many of the big men we have recruited, we could have major issues down low. If I was 3G right now my main focus in recruiting would be the most game ready JUCO big I could find. Someone who can come in and hopefully immediately play a substantial role. We all know how risky JUCO players are though...

Conner, Daishon, Zach, Rashard, Darral, Shaq, and Rauno all leave after next year. If we assume that we will have 14 scholarship players next year (I know that's impossible, but since we don't know), we will have the following known roster in 2014:

          Samajei Haynes-Jones
          Landry Shamet
          CJ Keyser
          Austin Reaves
          Markis McDuffie
          Eric Hamilton
          Arbjorn Mitgaard

We need six players in that class...I'm guessing three JCs and three freshman.

I suppose it's not impossible that someone like Nurger or Willis might redshirt next year to come back and start as a Senior the following year.

The only way I could see that happening is if one of them gets hurt. We should go all in next year.

I really hope we don't go with more than 2 JUCO players. This list shows we need big men in a bad way.

I've been pondering on this idea since I posted earlier. I actually really like this idea, especially Willis. We are already incredibly deep and will only get deeper next year. I think talking Willis into sitting next year would be incredibly beinificial for the team. Even taking Willis out of the equation we would still have Morris, Nurger, Kelly, McDuffie, and Mitgaard (potentially Hamilton) available at the 4 and 5. Still more than 2 deep with quality players. Willis could benefit from a year of working on his game, then be prepared to play major minutes the following year.

We need bodies. Shamet and Reaves in the backcourt, Keyser on the wing, McDuffie as a stretch 4, Mitgaard in the middle. That leaves SHJ and Hamilton (assuming he's still here). Going to need a bit of everything.

                        • If we put the big guy into the rotation, Willis moves down the bench to take Hamilton's minutes. I can't see him accepting that. I refuse to believe we'll replace seven at once.

Nurger would be more likely to leave for Europe next year than to redshirt.
