  • Henry used to roll thru campus in that white Mercedes. When he opened the door it looked like something from a Cheech and Chong movie.

The youngsters of the year played in BL

Shortly before DM 4 final in Dameliga between Hørsholm 79ers and Virum GO Dream was launched, this year's young player in BL 2017 was voted.

It is the players themselves from BL who voted and young players in BL became Asbjørn Midtgaard from Hørsholm 79ers.

Asbjørn has played 32 matches for 79ers this season and has a score of 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per. Match where the playing time has been just under 20 minutes per second. match.

Asbjørn received more than 1/3 of all the votes, and in the next seats Filip Rajovic and Jesper Sandager both came from Stevnsgade SuperMen, Oscar Teglgaard Jørgensen, Horsens IC and Sylvester Berg, Bakken Bears.

The award was overtaken by Chairman of the Board Michael Honore Bloch and besides the honor, Asbjørn also received a watch from Festina.

                Hope that watch isn't a problem... :)

                • If I could get 20 minutes per second I would get so much done!

No wonder he's so big. He's a combination of all the young players in the league!

By the way, that rounds to 18 and 14 per 40 minutes. Not bad for a relative newbie playing against pros.

                      • Looks like Dreiling on those pick n rolls doesn't he?

But what I really liked was his footwork and quickness on the defensive end of the court. His profile linked at the beginning of this thread stated as much: "On the defensive end, the Dane would not be outworked. He displays a toughness that isn't normally seen at the high school level." Good things usually happen for players (and WSU) who display, or can be coached to have, an acuity for D under the leadership of Gregg Marshall.

                          • The concern of others about his post up game is puzzling to me. Teaching a post up game is one of the skills I feel you can develop quickly with good coaching. It is harder to find a big that is effective in the pick and roll, or pick and pop role in my opinion. He happens to show the ability to move well and catch the ball on the move. His peers were impressed with his ability to play which I take as a positive.

The very first video I observed on this site showed him posting up with a man trying to use a full front defensive position (competition questionable). He used his body to shield, waited for the ball to get over his head, and dunked the ball in one motion very easily. Does he have the size to post up? Sure looks strong enough to hold his position. Does he have the hands to catch the ball? Sure looked to me like he does. Does he have a touch around the basket and post moves? Appeared some touch and awareness of body position in the lane. Do not have any evidence that he is a poor post up player in the limited footage presented with highlights.

                            • Gonna be nice having a big 7 footer play minutes eventually. Whether it be this coming year or the next. Very excited about this fella and more excited for him to not have to play by Valley rules but rather in a real league where his chance of actual court time are greatly improved.
