I guess I'll need to make more of an effort to get to a couple of Hutch games this year.

I bet my grandsons would enjoy a trip to Hutch to watch Samajae play. Maybe a stop at the Cosmosphere or Strataca then on to the game on a Saturday.

Hutch seemed more like a team of scorers last year. Here are the individual assist numbers:

95 - 6'1" So. Akbar Hoffman
91 - 6'7" Fr. Shakur Juiston
90 - Haynes-Jones
85 - 6'7" So. Bashir Ahmed (now at St. Johns)

SHJ attempted the 3rd-most 3FG:

60/177 - Hoffman
54/157 - Ahmed
51/137 - SHJ

I was looking at the HCC stats and notice a column for P/S. Not sure I have seen that stat before. Form what I can tell it is a points/shot statistic with 3 point attempts treated as 1.5 shots.

For example, Samajae's P/S was reported as 1.20 (568 pts/(270 2pt shots + (1.5 x 137 3pt shots)) = (568/(270+205.5) = (568/475.5) = (1.1945)

Is that what it is? Anyone know for sure?

By the way, can anyone who knows more about Juco BB than I do answer this question:

Based on the article, would it be that he's being considered for pre-season Juco AA honors? I would say definitely so based on the referenced article.

He had very impressive stats for a freshmen at a very strong juco, so I think so.

According to Steve Eck "His dream is to go to Wichita State". Maybe that doesn't count for much but I like it when kids, local or otherwise, have that as a dream. We had that in the 1960's for sure. Maybe to a lesser extent in the 1980's. Glad to have that back thanks to Coach Marshall.

i read some of the new sporting news college basketball issue. samajae is second team preseason all-american. hutchinson is ranked #4.
