I only saw the 4th quarter, so I probably didn't see enough to say this. Yes, unforced turnovers (passes) seem to be a problem. However, I also thought he played to "straight up and down". Pesky D1 guards will like a 6'4" PG dribbling in that position. He also played defense the same way. I saw at least 3 or 4 times where his man blew around him. Not because of his lack of speed or quickness, but because of his defensive stance.

Nevertheless, he's quite the package. He and Toure' (and I believe Kyles) will definitely be a handful for any opponent's backcourt.

You will want to go back and watch the first and third quarters then as they were his best.

      • The 2 saves he made on balls going out of bounds were just retarded.

        • That gives what I would consider a great example of why most freshman will not contribute significantly their first year.

Kenny has all the tools and then some. He will be a defensive nightmare in Gregg's system WHEN he learns and adapts good defensive positioning and rules. Whether he learns and accepts these rules over the summer and into fall practice remains to be seen.

To say the young man is quick is an understatement, however, as ShockTalk said he will be a turnover machine until he starts keeping the ball lower and that is going to take some changing.

All that being said, the young man has a ton of upside.

          • Oh and by the way... The team they beat... The #9 ranked high school team in the country according to USA Today's super 25! Yeah he was killing some of the best competition in the country.

The team they beat was St Peter's. The team at No. 9 is St Patrick. St Peter's was No. 9 in the Star-Ledger top 20.

I agree completely. He has the tools. He now needs to learn to focus better on ball handling, avoiding lazy passes and containment defense. His steals were outstanding, but ha also allowed his man to fly past him too often. This can and must be easily corrected. He made many outstanding passes, but also made too many lazy, easily intercepted passes. Once again, can and must be corrected. He also got stripped too often dribbling in traffic. Like others said, needs to keep the ball lower.

Tremendous at penetrating and either putting up a good shot or finding an open shooter. Excellent rebounder for a guard. He took no long range, or even medium range jumpers to judge from. I liked his 7 - 8 free throw shooting.

We didn't get to see a lot of how he did in fast break situations, but what little we did see, he looked very good.

The crystal ball is very murky at the moment without knowing how fast he will learn during summer pick-up games and fall practice. If forced to make a prediction, I believe he will probably be closer to "David Kyles ready" than "Toure Murry ready" when the season starts next year.

That's not a bad thing, I just would hate to see everyone thinking he's going to be a major stud from the get-go. I do believe he will be a tremendous player for the Shockers, but he has a lot to learn before he's ready to take over as the starting point guard. We cannot have a point guard turning the ball over as much as he is at the moment.

That being said, I'm very excited, but willing to give the young man time to develop.

                    • In regards to fundamentals, what about his propensity to use the one-handed pass? For those in the know, what are your comments about this? I just noticed that he likes to pass a lot with his right hand only.

Some can, most can't. He'll get away from some of the bad habits when he gets here. Either he'll correct them when working with the staff or he'll correct them after they bite him in the butt.

                        I'm not worried.

The kid obviously is gifted and has the tools to be a player. He will contribute early and get better with time.

                          • He is obviously very talented and will provide a lot of athletic ability to the team next year. Even though the announcers did not know which school he was going to, he impressed them with his play.

Watching the videos, you cannot help but be impressed with his basic skill set! He will bring an entirely different dimension to the team in the future.

Coach Marshall and his staff are assembling quite a group of players!
