  • Another potential good comparison is fellow Australian Andrew Bogut who is a skilled 7 footer, but not overly explosive. If you are interested in looking at some scouting reports on him, here are a bunch of links:

There was plenty of young talent on display at the FIBA U17 tournament, however, none stood out like Australia's Isaac Humphries (and at 6'11", he quite literally stood out too). While it should not...

By the way, most of these reports consider his strength and footwork to be positives.

    • According to the La Lumiere calendar, semester exams end on 5/21 with commencement on 5/22. Hopefully we will know by then if he gets reclassified or not. (I'd be happier to know today, but beggars can't be choosers)

      • Something is definitely afoot. I'm hearing rumblings of hushed excitement from people in the know. Don't know specifically what it is, but my sense is its something big.

Signing deadline is 5/20. Not sure how that will play into this (my guess is he could reclassify before the end of the semester if he can show proof he will have enough credits to graduate). On the other hand, he really only technically needs to sign scholarship papers. Who knows?

          • Is it possible that he has signed his scholarship papers but won't be formally admitted by the NCAA until he has graduated high school?

            • Last night I watched Humphries with the U17 Australian team play against Papagiannis and the U17 Greek squad at the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Dubai last August. The Aussies won and it was fun watching the two big men go at each other. One other note on the Australian school system (I taught school for two years in New South Wales) is that the school year starts in late January and ends in early December because the seasons are reversed. Humphries would probably have completed his junior year last December.

What I do notice is what appears to be a lack of conditioning.

Humphries is comfortable and has some skills setting screens, but he's got a year or 2 of conditioning work before his D1 game is going to really emerge. Morris' HS highlights showed what appeared to be a better conditioned and obviously more athletic player.
