UK is where you go to show how good you are.
WSU is where you go to get even better!!!

    • Is this one of those "no news is good news" situations? With the 2016 class starting to take shape with Allen and Frankamp, adding the big man would certainly "blow the roof off" and add another solid recruiting effort to 3G's resume.

      • It's certainly "no news is good news" as long as Humphries hasn't actually become part of Cal's United Nations crew at Kentucky. Reports, sources, rumors, expectations -- who cares? News would be if he actually joins the team, and so far that hasn't happened.

        • My question has always been when will a 4-5 star big man recruit actually realize the "trajectory" of Gregg Marshall and Wichita St. How would a top big man NOT want to come play with Fred, Ron and Evan? How does a 4-5 star big recruit NOT realize that Gregg has got it going in Wichita and even after Fred, Ron and Evan graduate it...that the cupboard will not be bare???

For this impatient fan....how long does it take to prove to 17 year old kids that you can find HIGH SUCCESS playing at Wichita St. under Gregg Marshall????? 10 years??? 30 years??? 50 years???

I know we will get one of these bigs one of these days...but c'mon already!!!!!!!

          • I believe all of incoming players have enrolled for fall semester and now officially part of the roster. I think the only way Humphries would be a 15-16 Shocker is to walk on. That's not happening.

            • Has anyone considered that Nurger may be our center for 16-17 and 17-18?

First thought: If Humphries walked on at WSU this season, Marshall and Heiar would be immediately inducted into the Salesman's Hall of Fame.

Second thought: Even as busy as he is containing his own problems, Roy Williams would probably STILL call the NCAA if Humphries walked on at WSU.

BOBB thought: A very good point about Nurger. He has similar size to Humphries, has shooting range out to three, has also played internationally, has a year in the Shocker system plus familiarity with the new assistant Lindsted, and is reported to have a big upside. He could be a major contributor, and may not wait until 2016-17 to do it.

                • I've often wondered if other coaches use our system to recruit against us. Are they telling big men recruits that WSU utilizes their guards and that the 4/5 are not the focus of the offense? Whether it's true or not, to the outsider it may seem like the guards get all the run in our offense.

                  • If Humphries doesn't get reclassified and go to Kentucky, is it possible he might transfer to Sunrise to finish his high school career? Hmm...

                    • If Kentucky is involved, you really think he won't be reclassified? UK usually gets what UK wants. It seems all things are NOT created equal within the NCAA (at last when one of the P5 is involved).

I'm sure that comes up from time to time with recruits. I also have to wonder if big man Garrett Stutz (a former Kentucky recruit) NOT making an NBA roster hurts Coach Marshall's sales pitch to 4 and 5 Star 7 footers. I never thought Stutz had a chance in you know what to make the NBA...but perhaps Cal uses that to the Australian saying..."See if he (Stutz) had come here...we would've developed him into a NBA talent." I wouldn't buy that but some 17 year old kid could/would.

I'm sure that Kentucky spends more time talking about what they did with their actual players than what they could have done with others. If I'm Calipari and the conversation becomes a referendum on Garrett Stutz I've seriously mismanaged the sale.

Yes. I would like to believe that too. He shouldn't have to resort to having say anything like that (and I doubt he does)...but it still wouldn't surprise me. I'm just po'd at the guy cuz he's probably gonna wind up getting "our" guy. Plus he pays the refs. ;) Yep I said it. ;) ;) Pays the refs. ;) ;) ;)

So would this mean the same thing for Kentucky? If he hasn't enrolled with them yet (or within the next week), he probably won't be part of their scholly roster in 15-16 either right? Or is Kentucky THAT good at cheating?
