If we sign the guy, you have to either (i) backpedal and admit you're a retard from a talent evaluation standpoint, (ii) stick to your guns that you assess talent better than the staff and hope the kid fails to prove your point, or (iii) pretend you never said anything bad about him and post over and over during the regular season about how much you love that player with all the credibility of a Vichy government decree.

Seems like getting excited about the players whom our staff values highly enough to devote tremendous time and resources to (if you think a visit and the preceding legwork involves anything but that, you are delusional) is a lot more fun.
I think there are a number of people on this thread who are assuming that we did not sign Ahmed Mohammed and that somehow Grady is 'better'.

I think we ought to let HCGM figure that one out. I agree that we should hold our comments regarding signees until an announcement is made.

I remember way back when, a wideout from Paseo HS in Kansas City, who was a Parade AA, had announced he was having a presser to announce his signing. It was widely speculated he would be signing with Missouri. Don Fambrough and an assistant visited shortly before the presser and delivered a large sachel. When the presser was held, the wideout announced, much to the chagrin of the audience, that he was signing with Kansas.

It was presumed that the sachel was full of money, and KU's football program was put on probation by the NCAA, which resulted in Fambrough's firing.

    • I wondering how many of us have taken the time to watch a few of his games on ESPN replays?

I think that's kind of the point of a public forum, to discuss things with people who have a differing viewpoint. I've learned a lot more from people who think differently than I do than I have from those who think the same. I was extremely unimpressed with this guy when I first saw his video. I'm still not sold on him, but after listening to some of the others here and their thoughts, I'm not as unimpressed as I once was. I hope that if he is the guy, he comes in and kicks ass. I'll be glad to admit I was wrong and cheer him on. However, calling myself a retard, not so much. :)

I certainly respect the right to look stupid. It is the desire to sport that particular look that I'm questioning.

I will add, if you put him with a more balanced, stronger team, opposing teams would not be able to concentrate on just 1 or 2 players as was done against CSU, particularly the best teams that they faced.

              I don't understand this post.

The entire point of coming on a message board is to discuss the topics on said board, in order to discuss a topic one must have an opinion. That opinion may be critical or it may be glowing. I think most of us know that we are having discussions without ALL of the information. Once we get more information our opinions could change. There is nothing wrong with admitting you were incorrect. I also believe that most of us consider HCGM to be the only opinion that matters. That shouldn't stop us from having our own or talking about them.

It's kind of the whole point of being here.

Well, I'll just throw this out there, if having a different opinion than someone else on a public forum is all it takes to be a retard or look stupid, then by all means, lump me in that category. I'll make no mention of what that would make you look like though.

This. He may be even better than his stats would indicate, and that's saying something.

You are a poor reader, very poor.

I never said that if you have a different opinion than I do, then you are stupid. It was far, far narrower than that.

It seems you are trying to bootstrap your way into some silly free speech debate. Have fun tilting at windmills, because there is no foe in sight.

Now THAT would be fun to watch. If he's even better than his stats, opposing defenses will be in for some long nights between him and any number of guys we can surround him with.

                        • His knees are a concern to me, probably to all of us. I also think our staff is smart enough to take that into consideration and perhaps even run him through some drills when he was here on a visit. At the end of the day, we either take a chance on a grown man that has produced at the D1 level, or an unproven JUCO that may or may not produce at the D1 level. I'm hoping we have a high school stud in the back pocket and Grady is a 1 year stop gap.

Thank you for your assumption, although it's quite incorrect.

This is the best player with least to lose.... He's proven he can play at the d1 level.... He doesn't have to be the savior or the guy... The pressure is all on our back court... All he has to do is help
