    I don't think we're done.

I think you might see a JuCo guard and big.

You know what Marshall says, pin -- he's never done. It's just a question of finding space.

If I remember some of the articles on Steffon correctly, he said that he gets the opportunity to play wing (where I believe he said he prefers) with his AAU team, but plays a lot of post with his high school team because of their lack of size. I hope he re-evaluates that preference, because I think he could make a killer PF.

He's currently listed at 6'8", 220, but I notice several recruiting services have not updated their numbers of 6'5",175 which I would assume is not more than 1, 2 years old max. He's also listed as a SF. Could he still grow a little more? He could easily be 6'9" and a solid, yet agile, 240-5 at the end of his freshman year (particularly if he comes to WSU). He seems to pass very well, finds openings to make solid drives to the bucket, can block shots, and, of course, can pull the defense out with his outside shooting.

No, I don't envision him as a 5, but he seems to make a lot more sense to go from the 3 to the 4 than say, McDuffie does. Just don't know if MM's body frame can handle the size needed to bang down low.

Based on the highlight tape, he seems like he has better shooting skills than low block skills. His jumping ability is not that impressive on these tapes and he doesn't seem super aggressive. It may be youth, but I'd like to see us sign someone that is a monster underneath. I like the look of that JUCO player, Thik Bol if he's still available.

I think that in Marshall's system, the 4 is a wing that can guard either a big forward or a small forward. That's why Evan and Ben Smith were able to be effective (as well as Cle) and why guys like Carl Hall dont play the 4 often.

Bingo, grew 4" past year. Not much spring in his step. Not a quick jumper. Maybe none of that has caught up to his growth spurt but thats whats being held against him recruiting wise. Never know how he can develope.

Steffon picked as pre season conference player of the year. The conference has two underclassmen, Gary Trent Jr. and Tre Jones who have Duke offers.

This is the 8th preview in my 2015-16 Season Preview Series.  In this preview, a look at the South Suburban Conference.  For a list of all...

Mitchell does not sound like a walk in the door and immediately ready to play type of player. He probably has holes in his game that need to improve. If he was "walk in the door , ready", he'd be on a lot of team recruiting lists that he isn't on yet. However, he does sound like a player who has a ton of potential (big size, very good shooter, good handles for a big guy, etc.). We may not need a player who is ready to play immediately.

He's a big guy with a great skill set. He lacks P5 athleticism. If he doesn't sign in the spring, he will be highly coveted.

Your use of the term P5 athleticism is an interesting one. It makes it sound like all P5 schools recruit players that are gifted. You may not mean it like it sounds. However, if he turns out to be a Derail Green type of player, it is a waste of a scholarship in my opinion at this juncture of our program.

I just meant that the P5 schools will go after kids with more athleticism in the fall. There's only a handful of those players, so most will miss. When they do, they'll look to a guy like Mitchell that scores 25+ and grabs double digit boards in a difficult conference. His stock will skyrocket.

He's a high level player, but his lack of elite level athleticism has allowed him to fly under the recruiting radar...see FVV.

Watch some low level P5 basketball and it won't take you long to figure out the recruiting philosophy of those programs.

Size and athleticism trumps all, with the hope that some may develop skill and BBIQ.

Doesn't even have to be low level P5. Plenty of athletes out there playing for big schools that aren't good basketball players. Some of them even get drafted.
