Seriously, though, this is wonderful news. One of the most impressive things about the Marshall regime (which is really saying something) is the way he's upgraded not just the talent base but the size of the quality recruits he's bringing in. A traditional criticism of “mid-major” powers, as WSU used to be before joining the top tier, was that their players were often excellent but not quite big enough when playing elite opponents. I can well recall pundits downgrading some of the outstanding SIU teams from early this century -– gee, remember when they were the MVC gold standard? How things have changed! -- who, sure enough, used to come up just short in the NCAA because despite being talented, tough, sound, and great defensively, they were smaller at key positions than the teams they'd eventually have to face. And it did indeed handicap them.
But now WSU has a freshman 6-3 backup PG, a freshman 6-6 SG/SF, and a freshman 6-10 C/PF with international experience, all of whom bring a new level of height to their positions as they join, among others, a 6-4 CG and NBA prospect built like he could play in the NFL; and assuming the commitments all hold up, they're adding a physical 6-2 PG, a 6-4 CG, a 6-7/6-8(!) wing who may have more growing to do, and a 6-9 PF who's already the size of Antoine Carr. Those of us who sat in Levitt Arena during the 90's have to be thinking back to Butch and Sundance, wondering, “Who ARE these guys?” -- and, of course, one of the guys who ISN'T all that tall is the mighty FVV, who has the equivalent of several inches worth of other extraordinary qualities to make him a dominant college player on an exceptional team.
I just hope they stay healthy. What a great time to be a Shocker fan!
Edit -- Sorry; just looked back through and saw your correction about the Final Fours, blackandgold. What's up with the colors, though -- I see your geography; did you used to root for Purdue and give up on them but keep the name?
One other bit of idle speculation: is it possible under NCAA rules to have a player-coach? E.g., like a graduate assistant who isn't on scholarship but can still play for the team?

Actually, I didn't even see the alleged error (which admittedly doesn't guarantee it wasn't there); all I caught was the writer's accurate comment about a first Final Four since 1965. Hopefully, I'm just suffering a meter malfunction.

I've never been one to back down from the real issues that are affecting our country. I picked the name "blackandgold" as a way of giving the middle finger to those people who oppress others. "Gold" is not just color, gold is the unwanted dog at the pound. "Gold" is the Shockerfan who was made fun of when he was a kid for being a Shockerfan. But those days are behind me now. It is time to move on. I would like to request from the powers of Shockernet a name change. I want my name to reflect the real colors scheme of Wichita State. I am now officially known as "BlackandPantone116C".

I don't believe Texas offered Kerwin until after they didn't get the highly rated Texas native PG they were after. Texas had already gotten a commitment from another Texas native SG (much higher rated then Roach). With both of these events, the Roach camp made the switch from being a SG to PG recruit. Had Texas offered Kerwin earlier, he may have committed to Texas earlier.
Second, given our previous 2015 commits at guard, I think HCGM was holding out for McDuffie as plan A.

Also, getting back to McDuffie, I checked the St. Anthony's website out of curiosity to see what they said about his weight, and the last roster posted was from 2012-13, at which point McDuffie was not there yet (some of that urban basketball mobility we often see, I guess). So other sources will have to suffice, although I'd tend to take Hurley's word for it, especially with Markis (I keep wanting to call him OJ) having made his commitment -- no need to embellish now, even if Hurley were ever inclined to do so. And while visiting, I was also surprised to discover that former UCLA forward Kyle Anderson, the PG in a forward's body who was wisely drafted by my favorites the Spurs this past year, had attended St. Anthony's. Good company.
