There was a study last year on Juco transfer's accomplishments during their junior season at BCS schools. Very few made significant impact.

Did anyone else see Hutchinson play Cloud County on Saturday? Maybe I have no clue or maybe he just had a bad night, but Mr. Herrera didn't look so good to me. He demonstrated hands as bad as I've see for a while - couldn't catch a pass or grab a rebound unless it fell into his chest. Quite slow getting up down the court and seemed to get beat on defense frequently. I don't know how many minutes he got but it wasn't very many. I do remember a nice move reversing and putting in a put back under the basket but that's all I thought was VERY good.

Maybe he just had a bad night or wasn't feeling well, but I sure don't think he showed anything that would interest HCGM too much.

hutchshox can provide more as I've only seen him once. But that one time he had very good hands. If he could reach it, it was his. He's not quick up the court by any means and his defense wasn't special, but adequate.

Despite Durley's offensive skills, Herrera is a better overall player, IMO. He's definitely not a guy who will be on any all-MVC teams, but he could be a servicable gap-filler until Stutz/Orukpe is ready.

I was out of town on Sat. and did not see him play. I was told by several people there it was a bad night for him. HCC has not been playing well for a couple of weeks though! Abdul is pretty much like Royal says when he gets consistant playing time, I think he has a good upside! Deffensively he is better than JT, but who isn't! Offensively JT is ahead of him. This guy can bang, board and throw down when he gets it in the post consistantly!

Thanks for the head's up Wushock. I'm sure hutchshox is correct in his assessment. And to think, I only drank a couple of screwdrivers before the game. I'm new at this - I don't want to make waves.

he was actually being stupid NY. You unlike him provided some sort of analyis of the player.

And for that we thank you

                      You're not making any waves.

When wushock gets called out, which I did since he often makes complete judgements about a player by the list of schools courting him or his "star" rating, he doesn't take it well. Instead of backing up his position he takes a pot shot. But it's ok. I expected it.

Your evaluation of Herrera's game is just as valid as mine since we've each seen him once. But based on hutchshox's opinion, who has seen him several more times, I got the iimpression that the game I saw was more typical than the one you described. And if he should don a Shocker uni next year, I hope that is the case!

Hopefully, I just caught him on a bad night. Assuming the coaching staff is still interested in him, it would certainly be nice to see the Shockers playing with a 4 or 5 with that kind of size.

Well you asked me if I ever seen him play. I seen him today and you say nobody puts any stock in what I say, however, I will say I am glad you guys that want him aren't recruiting for WSU. He is slow and has nothing whatsoever to offer. There were some D-l players in the Hutch game, but he wasn't one of them. My understanding talking to Hutch people that Bowman and Maze both D-l good prospects are both going to Maryland and Herrera was going to K State. Payne (Arkansas) also a big time prospect. Didn't see anyone on Cowley whom could help us.

I am not one who has said we have to land this guy, I said he has some skills that could help us out as far as a two year guy helping to develop a younger guy! His shot blocking and rebounding skills could of helped out a ton this year with wsu. I'm also glad you are not head recruiting cooridinator because watching one game out of a season is not the best way to get an opinon on a player! I still contend he could help in some ways, I'm not saying he would set the world on fire and if he is getting serious BCS looks, I think the Valley could use him!

Maze has verballed to Maryland and they are said to be leading for Bowman. K-State has yet to offer Herrera. McDonald from Cowley had been sick leading up to that game. We and several other pretty good D-1 schools are interested.
