I've heard of football players who were graduate students -- Barrett Jones, Alabama's outstanding lineman a couple of years ago, who redshirted as a freshman, actually already had a master's degree by the time he finished with football. Plus, nowadays there are plenty of basketball players who graduate from one institution, then use their last year of eligibility somewhere else. And Grant Gibbs didn't even have to leave; wasn't he already on Creighton's faculty when his eligibility ended? But this is new in the sense that Shamet will have graduated from Carolina right of out high school. By the time he finishes at WSU, he may have his doctorate!

Nice attitude -- I like that. I've always been struck by how many people who are really good at something tend to focus on their miscues, tough breaks, and disappointments rather than basking in their successes.

Having said that, though, I don't know that he can top Baker's against Utah or Early's on the lob against Kentucky. Odd -- in WSU's last two losses, by a total of three points, there's been a resounding missed dunk each time.

I believe both of these guys visited WSU for the same game last year as well.
