Shamet looking good tonight. Cant say the same about some of his team mates. Blue Sorings playing better team ball. Landry has very strong moves to the basket. Good at changing speed like Fred. Showed tough D getting a 5 second call against their PG. Park trailed at end of first quarter 14-11. Shamet with two points on FTs.
Park Hill leads ar half 28-25. Landry was 5 of 8 (that I saw) from the FT line. He was 72% for the season coming in. Has ball handling skills similar to Ron Baker. Might be a really good replacement for Ron. I missed most of the first quarter and part of the second. Saw four attempts ftom 3 pt range. Made 1, missed two, and was fouled on another. Sounds like may have had 9 points.
He started the second with another strong drive to the basket. Fouled but did not make the shot. Hit both FTs. Could use some time in the weight room to get some Ron Baker shoulders. Does a good job of looking for his team mates. Not sure his teamates return the favor.
He will need some work on defense. He let his guarded player. Score on an inbounds pass, and on a couple occasions let guys get past him on some soft picks. Currently the second leading scorer with 13 late in the third quarter. Knocked down an NBA range 3 pointer off the dribble (stop and pop) at the buzzer to to end the third quarter, finishing with 16.
Watching this game I am surprised Park Hill has only lost one game. Aside from Shamet, only Deonte )Wilson looks like a good and smart player. The others are not athletic, make dumb passes and one on one moves they dont have the talent to finish.
Shamet makes another strong move to the basket for another bucket (18) then later comes up with a steal and breakaway but throws it away with an ill advised one handed pass (he likes to do that a lot).
Park Hill leads 63-61 with 25 seconds. Park Hill with the ball. Landry fouled with 21 seconds left 1 and 1 opportunity. Clanks it off the back of the rim.
Blue Springs rebound with 15 seconds left. Blue Springs hits a three with 3 seconds left. Landry 6 of 10 from FT line. Park Hill loses 64-63.
Park Hill lead by as many a 9 points twice. Both times the players other than Landry and Deonte pissed the lead away with poor individual moves, bad passes, poor rebounding.
Landry is impressive. Again, a lot like Ron. He even had a Ron Baker type block from behind on a break away. Three point shots weren't necessarily falling, but Landry can create his own shots, has strong moves to the basket. He does need to work on defense and get out of the habit of making flashy one handed passes, but he does a great job of looking for his team mates and getting them the ball. He looks like a legit combo guard that will be very serviceable as a backup, part-time PG like Ron.
Landry finished with 18 points. Only 2 in the fourth quarter and only 1 3 pointer. His assist to turnover ratio probably wasn't great but that is the fault of his ream mates not finishing when he got them the ball.
Deonte Wilson was high scorer with 21. A 6'3 guard. Was the the best player on the floor on this night. He averages 17 a game compared to Landry's 18 ppg.Last edited by jocoshock; January 16, 2015, 11:03 PM.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!
