I don't like K-State, but I don't understand all the "K-State sucks" type comments. They did win the Big12 (co-champ). They laid an egg against La Salle in the tournament, but one game doesn't make or break a program from a recruit’s perspective. Just like one Final Four will not result in us winning all the recruiting battles we think we should win.

This. If you do not want to run the floor, Marshall will run you off the floor.

It's said because KSU has a history, and so does Weber. I believe he lost quite a bit of his inherrited talent and will have to start building with his own and relying on his guys. KSU is not going to be competing at the top of the XII under Weber.

Look, he did great at SIU, then got worse every year at Illinois. You can pretty much expect the same at KSU as he won't have the benefit of such fertile recruiting grounds around him like he had at Illinois. Granted, he failed to land most of those kids anyway.

I don't see "a lot" of intriguing big man prospects left for '14 on our list. We're definitely into plan C or worse territory. Now, those guys can be just fine and maybe surprise, but we were looking at guys who could step in and be factors right away. I believe those guys are all gone now. We need a 6'9"+ big that can step in and be a beast for us. Othewise, we're going to have the front court depth to rival SIU next year.

I'm sure we would like to sign the best JuCo big available in the fall, but most of our best JuCo signings happen in the spring.

Plan C or worse? I highly doubt it.

Weber is a solid in game coach, and as far as recruiting, he just beat us out for a center we desperately wanted. His failure at Illinois cannot be dismissed, but it is not a guarantee of his failure at K-State.

Yes, plan C or worse. As I've said in the past, 3Gs plan C is often times better than what we had as Plan A or B under Turgeon, but based off of the info we have, plan A is shot and I think most if not all of the Plan B guys are gone as well.

The XII beat the MVC for a recruit. Not a huge shocker there. I think Hurt could be a player, but Weber is not going to be landing guys that are going to compete with KU on a regular basis. Iowa State will be better than KSU considering the current staffs. 0U and OSU will most likely be better. KSU could be better than the Texas teams, but that's not saying much as none of them are all that strong. I admit I know little about WV other than they have Huggy which leads me to believe they'll be better than Weber and KSU.

KSU is not moving up the ladder. With or without Hurt, they're going to fall with Weber. Even most of the KSU fans I know have little to no faith in him.

                    • I know people are disappointed with not getting Hurt.

I would not consider William Lee or Michael Chandler plan C level recruits.

Lee is not coming and I have questions about Chandler, who we haven't even offered. No offer at this point definitely removes you from plan A status. And brings up questions about plan B status.

                        • Without Hurt we could definitely be in a rebuilding mode in 14-15 (which under HCGM I still would expect to be top 50-75 rpi). Even if we get a good high school kid or two lack of experience in the post is going to be a factor. I'm not worried but with the backcourt becoming juniors and seniors we could make some real noise if we can shore up the post.

                          • Lots of fretting about 14-15 when 13-14 hasn't even started.

I'm not saying to ignore what's happening....I am saying enjoy the ride.

                            • There will be players, some of them jucos, who will have tremendous seasons and be coveted recruits come spring. I have every confidence that if Marshall doesn't land a good center this fall, he will land one in the spring.

I get what you're saying, but at the moment, there's reason for at least slight concern as we only have two post players slated to be on the roster in '14-'15 in Shaq and Carter. Neither provide the Center that we desire. A healthy Shaq could fill that role alright, but that's enough reason for concern. And if the staff is concerned about it, which I'm sure they are, there's reason enough for us to have some concern about it.
