Rashard is No. 0 in white and looks good. He's a face up 3 and moves and passes very well. He started and had three assists and two points in his segment.
He has Xavier McDaniel-like qualities. In no way am I inferring that he will be anything like X, but he is a strong, wiry stretch 4 that likes to board.

    • @JonRothstein: Under-the-radar freshman to remember for 14-15 --- Wichita State's Rashard Kelly. 6-7 PF will have major impact for the Shockers.

      • Okay, I rarely go out on a limb on players that have never played a college game, but, barring some weirdness, Wiz will be in the rotation next year, book it. He will be on the all freshman team too.

He is a warrior and a HCGM player if I ever saw one.

I think Zach will be as good but we aren't as deep at Wiz's positions.

        • im just interested to see how the Henderson/Holland and Hamilton/Brown dilemma shakes out this summer...2 will red shirt and 2 will be on the outside looking in when it comes to minutes...GOSHOX

          • Even though we could use another player on the blocks, Hamilton is the most likely to RS. That could change if we do not land another big man. I do not see Brown as a RS. He will be taking some of Nick's minutes.

There is a number of variables regarding Henderson. Will he be as ready to take on the backup PG duties as HCGM believed Bowles was to be last year? Will Holland ready to take on good minutes coming off the bench as a PG and/or SG? Is Sky Williams still on the roster, what's is his progress, and his status?

2 will not necessarily be RSs.

There is no Hamilton/Brown dilemma. Hamilton is a PF and Brown is a wing guard.

If we do not sign another true 4/5, it would not surprise me if we NOBODY red-shirted next year.

                  • Wandering away from Kelly here, because everyone knows that unless he has an injury he isn't redshirting -- but they could even have three. WSU proved last season they can go with 10 scholarship players and be very effective.

                    • My 2 cents:

Henderson will not redshirt, he needs to start being groomed at the point. Fred is one of the best point guards in the country and we can't take a risk he goes to the NBA after next year and we didn't groom his replacement. Ron very well could leave as well, we need to start working Holland/Henderson into the rotation.

We need bodies at the 4-5. We have Carter, Shaq and Wamukota. That leaves an opening for either Kelly/Hamilton/or TBD JUCO. If we sign a JUCO (Glass), both Hamilton and Kelly could redshirt, in theory.

We need another player to fill in at the 2/3. With Tekele and Ron as starters, we have Wessell in the backup and possibly Holland at the 2. Holland is awefully small and I see Brown getting minutes here as well.

                      • Fred won't leave early for the NBA. Fred is my favorite player on the team, but he won't get drafted. He is too small and not athletic enough to get serious looks. I would absolutely LOVE to see him make it in the NBA. He will have to go the undrafted route to try and make it though. Ron on the other hand very well might leave next year. He has the size and shooting ability that scouts love. I think Ron was projected as an early 2nd round guy this year. I think if he has a great year next year, which we all think he will, he could move up to the first round and be gone next year.

The backcourt red-shirt possibilities depend on whether or not Holland can play point. If he can, there is a greater possibility that Henderson red-shirts.

Brown and Kelly are already in the rotation IMO. The question is how much PT will they get. My bet is they will see similar minutes to what Cotton and VanVleet saw as freshman.

                              Obviously Holland won't be redshirting.

                              • Of all the new players and redshirts eligible now that are signed on with us so far, Mr. Kelly will be the X-factor for next Season IMO. If he plays the 3 and 4 in the rotation, Brown the 2 and 3, and Richardson is as good of a combo-guard as I think he will be, watch out. What rebounding and depth we will have from positions 1,2, and 3. It would be like pulling hens teeth to find 10 or even 5 teams that will be as solid as us at those 3 slots. The best of best teams year in and year out are always strong at slots 1,2, and 3. Cotton, FVV, and Baker will only keep getting better and now have promising players to back them up. These are positive factors and guideposts in evaluating just how solid of a team we will again be this coming Season. I like it. I like it alot!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
