Exactly. Never really understood why we as fans would denigrate a kid for his college selection.

For anyone. How many of us would have loved to play a D1 sport on a scholarship? Now take it a step further....how would you have felt if WSU wanted you to be a Shocker in your sport?

Good luck to the young man. I'm sure it is a joy. I hope he has a great career at KSU, beats KU every time they play, and we whip his ass when someone makes KSU play WSU.

I hate to lose Wade, but I'd rather lose him to KSU than the blueeturds of Omaha.

One can take solace in that Wade was not ours to lose, but KSU's.

What bothered me is what bothered me about Perry Ellis going to KU. If you know where you want to go, just be done with it and save everyone's time. It sounded like Dean wanted to go to K-State from the beginning, which is fine. He had grown up going to football games in Manhattan. His dad played football for a year at K-State. St. John is is the thick of K-State country. No problem with any of that at all.

That said, if that's the case, don't come out in the newspaper and say you don't have a favorite when it it pretty damn obvious that you do have a favorite. Looking at his twitter page, he was talking about K-State a lot. Awhile back, he sounded like he about wet himself when he saw that Marcus Foster followed him. He should have committed to K-State when they offered because that's exactly what he was going to end up doing. Perry did the same thing. He narrowed his list and didn't initially include WSU but then ended up putting WSU back on there. Even so, it was always pretty certain that he was going to KU.

That's why I had no problem with Conner Frankamp committing to KU so early. If that's what you want, just make the decision and don't waste anyone's time.

Oh, and I echo Doc's sentiment that I hope we beat his ass when someone makes K-State play Wichita State.

This is going to be the likely scenario as long as we have Marshall and they have Weber/Lowery.

Ellis and Wade are good examples of why stuff like this https://twitter.com/RDB_sh31ox/statu...88242504728576 is so important.

I'm happy with what we've got, and I think both situations will work out just great for those players, but starting folks down the WSU path early is the way to retain local talent.

The stuff Marshall has already done/will do going forward is going to reap some benefits in this department down the road. That picture is a really good example. That would NOT be there if Marshall had not found Ron Baker. Those tanks would have had Emporia State on them...

...and Emporia State would be DOMINATING their league. They would also be spoiling some D-1 schools' exhibition nights, too.

Seems like a very good get for KSU. The surprise would have been if Wade had not chosen K-State. I wish Dean nothing but good fortune. I'm sure he will do well. Dean really wanted to be a Wildcat, just like Connor Frankamp wanted to be a Jayhawk.

There are a lot of great prospects but the one thing you want is young men that really want to be in your program and not just settling. We move on to other challenges.

I don't think it was a mistake on his part. At KSU, he's going to get significant PT. At WSU, he would have been behind a huge Fr class absolutely loaded with 3-4 type players.

He's probably a better fit for KSU's style of play than WSU's style of play. At WSU, a 3/4 player needs to be able to get downcourt in transition. I'm skeptical of Wade's foot speed in a 30-yard dash.

He's probably in his best fit for D1 ball.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

He's getting to play for the school he's always wanted to, I don't see how it's a mistake at all.

We get to host a limited number of official campus visits, no? In that case he did us a favor by committing when he did (and Landry reciprocated for KSU and the other two choices in his final four).

I'm hoping this is sarcasm ... but no, he's not just a slow white guy. Eric Bossi of Rivals is the best in the business and he's based out of KC so he sees the local kids quite a lot.

According to Bossi: "the 6-foot-8 power forward really took his game to a new level during July. He showed up much stronger than before but was still a pretty athletic big who could run, make jumpers to 17 feet and compete on the glass. Given the chance to play against better competition from all around the country, Wade flourished"

I'm excited about the Shockers recent recruiting classes, but Wade playing alongside Nurger in the post, would have been a huge get for the Shockers. 17 yr old kids who are a legit 6'8" with an already polished game and athleticism are really difficult to find.

Although I'm disappointed he chose KSU I do give him credit for staying local. Tons of kids (like Willie Cauley-Stein of Spearville, KS going to Kentucky) see their rankings jump and all the sudden think the local schools are beneath them.
