I hope he sees that WSU could use a really good PG. I know that FVV is going to be here for 3 more years, as well as Baker for 3, but our guard play right now is bad and any upgrade would be welcomed with open arms.

You can never have too many PGs. Especially when some can play off ball. But we also have two potential guys coming in next year that can play there. I do believe that Ria'n Holland will be more of a SG, but DJ Bowles I believe is closer to a pure PG. Harris I believe could play either and play quite a bit.

You figure his FR year would have Baker, Wessel and FVV as JRs. Cotton a SR. Holland and Bowles would be SO/RFR. There would be competition to be had the first two years, although a couple of those guys could see some time at SF as well. But we should have Green filling in some time there as well.

I would love this kid to come here as much as anyone, but I'm not 100% sure that we could guarantee anything for him. Not immediately anyway. I do think he could work his way into minutes for sure. Depends though if he's afraid of a little competition or not. Some guys prefer to avoid that and go somewhere they can guarantee a lot of minutes early. On the bright side though, some guys want to win and we're going to continue doing that.

We're at our best when we have waves of talented guards coming off the bench with no drop off. If you're good, you will see the court at WSU. We don't let guys rot on the bench like a lot of teams.

That's a very fair point. And like I said, I think he'd play some as a FR. The question is, does a kid like this want to risk maybe only playing 10 minutes a game or so? He could very well play more than that as 3G isn't going to let seniority get in the way of talent, but there may be situations where he could play more elsewhere early. But those places may not offer the ability to win at the level we are capable of either.

A lot goes into these decisions. Although, you can look at FVV this year and he's been playing more and more as he's adapted to the speed and other challenges of D1 ball and has eclipsed 20 minutes in a few games. Harris is capable of that if he can beat out a few guys and I admit that we don't know for sure what we have in Holland and Bowles yet as they haven't set foot on campus. It'll be hard to take minutes from Cotton, Baker and Wessel as well as FVV. But FVV is the only pure PG in that group with Baker and Cotton capable if we're desperate enough. So Bowles and/or Holland will be expected to contribute and if Holland is more of a SG, that opens up more possibilities for a guy like Harris to get minutes at PG.

These are definitely the type of kids that WSU needs to be getting. I'm sure there will be quite a few "big boys" contacting him more than he is already getting.

Nice to see him point to something we offer that not all do. And he prefers to stay closer to home. Still a lot of competition in the area, but I think we'll stay in play
