Coy's verbal to Arizona State isn't solid. He says he still considers himself a Sun Devils commit but things could change. If he goes somewhere else, expect it to be a school closer to home. At the time of his commitment in March, Missouri, Kansas, Creighton, WSU, and Missouri State were in the mix.

Coy is my dream get at Creighton to round out our class. His family posted quite a bit on our board last spring and I thought we had a good chance of getting him before he committed to ASU.

I'll try to find the links, but there are a couple of articles out there right now indicating that Mizzou and Creighton may be the top contenders if Coy decides not to go to ASU.

Good luck to you. Since it was our old coaching staff recruiting Coy, I doubt if WSU will be in the mix if he does open it back up.

Says he's never considered not honoring his committment to ASU.

Not according to the last article on him in Rivals where he shot down the previous article written by the MU site. But DJA seems to think he is.

Some Creighton fans kept hoping to obtain Coy. However, he has signed a LOI with ASU. Creighton got LOIs from their two verbals from the Omaha area. Antoine Young, a 6-0, 3 star guard and Josh Jones, a 6-2, two star guard.

I know some recruits come in through Jabara sometimes, but if they come into the main airport, it is not very impressive for the 'Air Capital of the World'.

They need to facelift the front of the Airport at the least, to something other than a 1950's style. I know the 50's and early 60's were heydays for Wichita, but come on, this is the 21st Century now!

Here's an interesting turn of events.

The guy that recruited Coy to ASU was assistant coach Mark Phelps, who is expected to take the HC job at Drake today.

Coy's brother is a high school assistant coach at North KC (Garrett Stutz's school).

When the elder Coy e-mailed midwest coaches about his brother, only WSU (during the Turgeon era) responded and attended one of his games.

I doubt the kid would ask out of his LOI to ASU, but thought the connections were interesting.

Since Coy's commitment to ASU, he's gotten increased interest from baseball scouts for his skills on the diamond. There's a distinct possibility Coy will be drafted in the first 10 rounds of the major league draft, and possibly as high as the fifth round. Coy has held separate private workout sessions for both the Royals and the Phillies in his hometown of St. Joseph, MO.

The Royals sent a text message to Coy during the draft indicating they were going to draft him with their next pick in the 8th round. The Phillies beat the Royals to the punch though. Coy will think about it over the weekend before making a final decision.
