  • John Coy - Transfering from Arizona State

6'7" 195 SF. St. Joseph (MO) Benton. Class of '08. 3*

Has high interest and an offer from Arizona St. Also being recruited by MU, UNLV, Creighton and WSU.

He averaged 15 points and 10 boards as a sophmore. Is averaging 26 and 12 as a JR. Along with 4 assists and 5 blocks.

The Shox are trying to get him to visit soon. And he was a PG until recently when he hit a growth spurt. Apparently he can handle the ball and has very good range.

I think Turg needs to reel in a kid like Coy every few years, to keep WSU relevant in the KC AAU recruiting circuit. Coy's a kid who plays with Travis Releford, Tyrel Reed and Connor Teahen on KC Pump 'n Run. He's right in Turg's backyard. Arizona State shouldn't be beating out WSU for kids in this area (again, eh, Quinton Day, the best Kangaroo around).

Suggs, Coy and Moore are three Missouri kids WSU needs to be players for.

6'7" Wings that can shoot and handle the rock are an important part of a team. They seem to be very hard to gaurd. We need one.

His scout profile now shows us with medium interest but no offer.

Reading the whole article just posted on the Densel Bowles thread, Missouri is about to offer Coy. Checking the Arizona State board, Coy is the second SF they have offered. The other being 4 star Kris Joseph.

Must be Scott Suggs, a 4 star from Washington (MO), but that is the St. Louis Area. I haven't seen anything on him since he broke his wrist early in the season. Being a 4 star, he has a long list of interested schools, some from the Valley, but they do not include us.

Yet another Coy article. He's a hot item right now. This one talks mostly about ASU. Seems to like warm weather and distance from family will not be a factor when picking a school. Doesn't sound good. A straight A student.

Coy didn't commit to ASU during his visit, but left saying he, "can't see myself going anywhere else right now" and the commitment, "might occur before the end of the month." Crieghton is the only other school he is thinking about but, "It's hard to compare both schools. Going away from home isn't a big deal for me." His family favors ASU.

He enjoyed his trip to ASU but has said he wants to visit as many schools as possible so he can see how he'd fit into the different systems and teams. He still doesn't know if he wants to stay closer to home or leave. Did mention he plans to visit WSU.

Now that he has been back home a few days from his ASU visit, sounds like he's cooled down on them a little. Perhaps there is hope.
