Good to know, thanks. I just looked on one of the recruiting sites and I didn't see our logo in his final scrum of schools.

VC lists an offer. Would still put it at doubtful.

But was that before or after the knowledge of the DB stealth contract extension? Maybe we can dangle that carrot now.

Alrighty then. I will leave that one alone.

          • Shaw is probably waiting for an evil empire offer.

              Yea, that's my issue unfortunately.

The fact that players do pop up later in the portal makes me think the Athletic article was accurate in that players pretty much know where they are going by the time their names appear.
Or, some kids take the time to analyze their situation and talk to family and trusted friends/coaches from home. Not everyone reacts immediately.

Maybe some see who commits or if there is a change within the coaching staff.

They could see changes at schools they think they might like to go to and feel they now might have that option. And it wouldn't be unheard of for feelers to be put out by the player or people around him to some programs to see if that would be an option before putting their name in. I wouldn't call that tampering and would be similar to how a lot of coaching hires take place, but in reverse. They may not be disgruntled about things but if a certain opportunity is available, they'd take it. If you're happy where you work you don't broadcast that you might interview for another company because something may have popped up there and you want to explore the possibility. This wouldn't really be that different.

I've also seen some rumors that not all of the players have actually had their exit interviews yet. It's possible that some left for spring break before they had them.

                • Another factor players sometimes take into consideration is to make sure they get through Spring Semester in the classroom before leaving the school that gave them a scholarship in the first place. Facts.

It's probably difficult to get all the conferences done in a short time, but hopefully, Brown was smart enough to get in the main one he wants, and needs to remain, prior to spring break.
